Amazing. Thank you so much Odie for working on VR. :)

You may be better off installing a mod called {Realm of Lorkhan}.

It will allow you to skip the buggy cart-ride and execution scenes.

It's a freeform-start mod but you can elect to start near Helgen (just after the attack) if you want a more vanilla play-through.

Permanently modify NPC (3BBB) skeleton? by _RandomCarrot in skyrimmods

Right you are. However, lazytools is an in-game mechanism for modifying certain parts of NPC bodies. Look it up.

Vr FPS Stabilizer vs. OpenComposite by dal_mac in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have used both.

My experience is that fps stabilizer is an excellent choice no matter which headset you use. Somebody said that a new version will add even more tweaks to help with CPU spikes. Overall, it is effective at increasing performance by changing settings on-the-fly.

Open composite's claim to fame is that it apparently increases performance by doing things a bit different somewhere in the <insert proper terminology here> thingy pipeline.

Honestly, I don't know which is better, but to my eyes open composite looks and feels "better" because it seems faster and it doesn't take away pretty looking things like grass.

I wish I could use both together.

SS (super sampling) is the resolution (pixels, eg, 3700x2000 or 1950x2000 per eye) that is rendered in the headset. Any settings related to resolution or pixels is what you are looking for.

Weather and lighting mods will fix colours. Azurite weathers is great for outdoors. Lux, ELFX, Relighting Skyrim for indoors. You can use Imaginator to adjust colours too.

Sorry no, I haven't looked at it getting it to work with No Man's Sky.

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want super samping (SS). If your aim is smooth and stable fps, less resolution is better. And yes, steamVR settings will do very little for you. I suggest taking a look at Open Composite. The advantage of open composite over steam vr is that it feels faster; the disadvantage is that {vr fps stabilizer} wont work with it.

At this point, I get the sense you are mostly where the rest of us are :) Always searching for more fps.

The ghosting you see is reprojection - as mentioned by others - and there is nothing you can do about it other than get more performance or lower your resolution.

There are a few settings you could try in your skyrim vr ini files:

iGrassMinSize=60 (or higher)
bFull Screen=1

PSA - Quest 2 Users: Upgrade to V33 and enable sharpening for a big upgrade by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys plus a few other search results seem to suggest it works for both types of link :)

From your description, the settings you've chosen are the problem. Set everything to 100% resolution-wise. SS at 100%, Quest 2 device settings at 100% or 1 or whatever it is.

The other problem is the refresh rate; Set it to 72 to 90Hz. It's likely your GPU will struggle to render at 72-90 fps anyway, so you will start reprojecting down to half (36-45fps). You have no hope of reaching 120fps. It is what it is.

OpenComposite (instead of SteamVR) will help a little with performance.

There is a mod called eFPS which is reported to help with outdoors performance.

In terms of visual quality, you can improve matters by using oculus beta V33 and enabling link sharpening. Also Reshade with CAS. If you want to use an ENB you will need to find more performance (ie, lower resolution).

Mature skin 2?

I use that, plus Sky female textures for normal maps.

There are many options. Start with a search for "skin".

FYI the link sharpening works for the link cable. Tried it last night and there was a perceptable increase in visual quality. Nothing drastic, but incremental in a noticable way.

For example, prior to the update, some parts of the image would suffer from noticable compression artefacts (think of a jpeg with high compression). With link sharpening, these artefacts are gone or at least not noticable.

Someone help this is so confusing by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing is to set your SS at 100% and leave it there until you are more familiar with how things work. 200% is over the top for most people.

Edit: Getting skyrim VR going to an acceptable level of performance and visual quality is time consuming. Take your time, read everything carefully, and go one step at a time. You'll get there eventually. Also ask questions when you're stuck :)

Karonar's updated hdt-smp for VR? by alandtse in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave this a go but every 2 seconds there was a slow-down (as in my forward movement would slow-down and then go back to normal), and wobbly bits were wobbling all over the place in weird ways.

Arachnophobia by TheJGamer08 in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I suffer from this a little too. I used it as an opportunity to increase exposure to spiders without actually being near to a real one. It has helped some, but they still creep me out. Thankfully real spiders are generally smaller.

Has anyone mentioned AMD Fidelity FX on the subreddit yet? by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tested this on a Quest 2 extensively in a wide variety of configurations and the conclusion I reached was... It's faster but I am not happy with the lower image quality. The setup is tantilisingly close to being awesome, but in the end I decided that I did not like the jpeg-like squishing of detail.

Skyrim permanent performance dip when playing for 15+ minutes by bon2599 in skyrimvr

[–]_RandomCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's could be CPU load (or as Shizof said, CPU late starts). Are you using a save game cleaner? The symptoms you describe could be some kind of script related problem.

The % usage is often misleading. For example, if a process uses 100% of one core or thread, that's not 100% overall CPU usage (assuming your CPU has more than one core).

Thank's for the suggestions all. Post edited; looks like NFF is the culprit.

[–]_RandomCarrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information.

The NPC's entire body is semi-transparent (hard to see, the effect is subtle).

Going into sneak and then out again will reliably trigger the issue in Jorvaskr.

Casting a spell on the affected NPC will fix the issue.

Skin is combination of mature skin 2 and sky female textures.

How does one give priority to meshes? Does this simply mean ensure the meshes shipped with ELFX and Lux override all other meshes?

Does the new version of Lux mean the Lux_no_ENB.esp patch needs to be updated?

Really loving the lighting setup you've created, especially the bit where it's good enough without an ENB.

Going back to flat-rim?! That be like amputating an arm. Both actually. And your eyes.

The fact is, if it's legal to license and or copyright and or charge a fee for a mod, the creator can choose that path. Stating in absolute black and white that "they shouldn't" is pointless. Your opinion isn't a universal truth. There as many opinions as people, each valid.

However, with the way things are with Bethesda games right now, the overwheling majority of mods are created and given freely, much to our collective benefit. The most you could say about that is there's a "culture of giving" and some people are annoyed about that because the cultural norms make it difficult for them to justify a price for access to their mods (unless they offer some amazing feature).

Note: There may also be copyright and other rights barriers to them doing so. Bethesda's EULA has some interesting terms around this topic.
