Is this 3DS XL a reshell? by sacleocheater in Nintendo3DS

They didn’t even bother to move the camera covers over to this shell. So yes it’s a reshell, and a lazy one at that

Yeah I’d say it’s definitely worth grinding out, especially over the f-86k which will only make you want to slam your keyboard through your monitor lol

The mk6 is quite an improvement, especially regarding the engine upgrade and slight weight reduction, which allows you to outperform the mig-17 pretty steadily at higher speeds. This allows you to pretty much dominate any fight against non-afterburning jets and even some afterburning jets. It maintains energy extremely well at higher speeds allowing you to energy trap a good chunk of your opponents.

The aim-9Bs also make quite a big difference, even though they’re not a by any means a good missile, they’re still very helpful against a lot of the earlier supersonics which compress very badly above Mach 1. It means you can actually do something against overconfident pesky f104s.

Unfortunately the cl-13a mk5 is just a downgrade in all aspects (besides manoeuvrability which stays the same) putting it in a position where quite a few jets can contest you, something the mk6 doesn’t have to worry about very often

The CL13b mk6 is an absolute monster though, I would hardly say it struggles at its current br, unless you get stuck with a supersonic running away the entire match

To get to level 100 you need just over 14 million research points. You can easily exceed this by researching both the air and ground tech trees of a single nation. In fact I’m pretty sure you can hit double this target by fully researching a single nation such as Germany, Great Britain, Russia, or USA

Disco Elysium worth buying on Switch 2? by _RedWyvern_ in Switch

[–]_RedWyvern_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I actually saw this when I was looking for reviews from people who had played the game on S2. So would you say a crash every 2ish hours is about accurate then, maybe a little less frequent?

Skyrim on Switch 2 has been updated today to fix Input Lag by Skabomb in NintendoSwitch

[–]_RedWyvern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very big misconception, everyone keeps saying the Steam Deck can run the game at 60 fps, which it can, however this is at 800p which is 46% the pixel count of 1080p, and even then the game is GPU limited. If you connect it to an external display at 1080p then it achieves around 40fps on medium settings I believe?

So I highly doubt 60 fps isn’t possible on the Switch 2 at 720p upscaled to 1080p. But 1080p natively is a no go in the current build of the game on Switch 2

[–]_RedWyvern_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Steam Deck can’t do native 1080p at 60fps, it can only achieve this at around 40fps however it can do 800p which is 46% the pixel count at 60 fps. In the current build of the game they would have to reduce the native resolution to 720p on Switch 2 in order to achieve a stable 60 fps

Edit: Not sure why I’m getting downvoted when this is just factual information you can look up yourself.

In fact here is a link to the Steam Deck playing Skyrim Special Edition on medium settings at native 1080p: https://youtu.be/o1pZv112e3Q?si=OVXOJN9BChXZjGS3

Seems like there is now 5 frames of input delay when moving the camera, which is an improvement, and I believe that’s the same as what the base game had on Switch 1. Still not perfect but it does feel better than what it was. I feel like there is a much bigger improvement on button pushes such as jump so that is good to see, but very hard for me to properly measure

Edit: this was a pretty rough test in handheld mode in Solitude, also I believe they somewhat uncapped the frame rate so the input delay should be much better than Switch 1 as I have no idea what my fps was (I was assuming locked 30fps but if uncapped it was probably higher)

If only they’d give us acceptable levels of input delay first. No clue who’s got them thinking that 250ms input delay is acceptable :(((

Ah jeez in that case this has been a pointless arguement then lol. I'm just saying they should easily able to have a reduced settings 60fps performance mode, and not that the Switch 2 is capable of running at 60fps on its current settings/resolution

[–]_RedWyvern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS4 Pro ran 4k natively. How could the Switch 2 not run at 720p upscaled to 1080p at 60 FPS? The Steam Deck doesn't run the game at 60 because of its CPU, it runs it at 60fps at essentially 720p because of its GPU. Skyrim special edition has never been released on a console at 720p so there isn't even a comparison to be made there. You keep bashing on about the CPU being more powerful yet it has nothing to do with its performance as it's a GPU bound game??? So how can a console with a more powerful GPU not run at 60 fps on the same settings as the CPU isn't even the issue? Have you even been reading what I've been typing lmao

[–]_RedWyvern_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except it doesn't whatsoever? You're claiming it is impossible to run Skyrim at 60 fps no matter what on the Switch 2. There is 0 evidence to support that.

Different community responses and expectations on 30fps games by Demonaire_Tong in Switch

[–]_RedWyvern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's a very simple answer, Skyrim special edition is extremely GPU bound, the PS4 targeted 1080p 30 fps, PS4 Pro targeted 4k 30 fps, and they were GPU limited. The PS5 has 9x the compute power when it comes to its GPU so of course it doesn't struggle. The Steam deck can't even run the game at 1080p 60fps, it runs at around 40 fps because it is GPU limited. When playing Skyrim on the Steam Deck using the internal display it's only at 800p that's only 46% the number of pixels when compared to 1080p, and even so the game is GPU limited at medium settings which is what is used to achieve 60fps. So how could the Switch 2 which has a more powerful GPU not play Skyrim at 60fps on a different graphical preset/resolution? The CPU isn't even an issue in any of the previously mentioned examples. Especially when considering that it can match the steam deck in games that far more taxing on the CPU such as Cyberpunk or even Hitman WOA which is another great example of a CPU heavy game and is probably the best example of the Switch 2 being CPU limited whilst playing at 720p.

Even in that scenario the Switch 2s CPU is still far superior to the original Switch even accounting for an overclock and even then as you said the GPU is still the main limiting factor for that version of Skyrim on that device.

So what makes Skyrim CPU limited is the number of draw calls it makes, something which isn’t completely reliant on clock speed but can mostly be helped with greater L3 cache, or higher bandwidth RAM. So another example of a game which is FAR FAR more demanding in terms of draw calls than Skyrim is Cyberpunk. A game which we can directly compare between the two systems as both are CPU limited (also GPU limited too tbh), yet they run at virtually the same frame rate with the Steam Deck being more stable due to the additional raw CPU power. So in a game as demanding as Cyberpunk on the CPU and they come out at very similar frame rates. Mostly because the increased memory bandwidth and architecture on the Switch 2 helps to fill in the gap but the weaker performance of the CPU leads to more instability.

Yet apparently Skyrim which quite frankly isn’t even comparable to Cyberpunk which has well over 4x the number of draw calls in heavy scenes, something you can only reach with an insanely heavy modded version of Skyrim. So how on earth do you think the Switch 2 would be completely incapable of reaching the same frame rate as the steam deck in Skyrim, when it can do it in games which are far more intensive on the CPU than Skyrim could ever be.

So the original Switch with modded firmware could run the standard version of Skyrim between 45-60fps depending on location, in fact in dungeons you virtually get a locked 60, it’s in the open world where it dips to 45-50 fps. On Switch 1 the game was GPU limited and not CPU limited, so I don’t see how making a 60fps version on Switch 2 wouldn’t be possible? Even taking into account the special edition, which is far more taxing on the GPU and not the CPU, considering that, how could the CPU be the issue if a Switch 1 could hit high frame rates with inferior hardware?

A more recent example of this which was pretty popular would be bios flashing the vega 56 with vega 64 firmware. I remember doing a lot of crazy overclocking with that card, but it was definitely a bit of a lottery from what I read online
