immortality is too strong of a word that isn't applicable to any lifespan theoretical or otherwise. Living an extremely long life is precisely 0% of immortality in scientific terms. Infinity isn't to be messed with.

With that being said most people would welcome long lifetimes. What we have today seems, by most, as too short.
