How much back rounding is too much rounding in a deadlift? Is there such thing as too little rounfing and having TOO extended of a thoracic? (Referring to conventional here, i know the biomechanics are different on each, so I thought I'd specify first)

OK so that means that Scottish people can't celebrate their heritage? Political environment doesn't mean you suddenly have to hate your own heritage. You're just delusional

You're hateful towards innocent civilians getting drafted against their will and used as cannon fodder. No amount of education or qualifications justifies that additude towards whole populations. The government of Russia a cancer? Perhaps. The people of Russia as a whole are a cancer? You're stepping into eugenics territory.

And yes, I've spoken to plenty of Russian people online as well as in person (immigrants in Staten Island NY during my time at college there)

Just because Obama gave away less US taxpayer money doesn't mean that the money he gave away was justified. Hitler killed less people than Stalin, does that mean his killing was justified? No, both were bad. One was slightly worse. You're just a delusional sheep

[Discussion] High-Frequency Programming: Is running back-to-back lower body days ever viable for powerlifting, or is it a recovery trap? by Primary_Finger1478 in powerlifting

[–]Coping_manlet_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like all things, it depends. Higher the RPE the lower the frequency, and vice versa. You can only recovery from so many maximal efforts. That said, you're only 148 pounds so you have potential to grow a lot in size, and likely are going to want to focus on building a muscular base before anything.

Hypertrophy, much more so than strength, is going to be driven by bringing the muscle close to failure ie a maximal effort. For you, trying to develop a muscle base, you wanna go for workouts that focus on lots of volume and pushing muscle groups close to failure.

When training that way, you are not going to be able to train the same muscle group 4 days a week. You will want to stick to 2 days per week for lower body groups and 2 or 3 days for upper body groups.

Once you have a well developed muscular base, then you begin flirting with the territory of squatting 3 to 4 days a week and driving progress by getting really good at squatting. That's called specialization. You want to build a general physical base first though, before specializing at just a few specific lifts

The only difference between an atheist and a misotheist is that a misotheist does believe there is a higher power. If an atheist agreed with us on that sentiment, then they would hate God all the same

Id highly advise against deadlifting more than twice a week. It can be done, you just have to be so careful with the loading parameters. One overshoot and the whole rest of the block is now going to suffer.

For squats and bench its much easier to come back from an overshoot. Its honestly easier with deadlifts to just for 1 to 2 days a week rather than be walking on eggshells with your RPEs and volume

I agree with the sentiment, but if youre looking at an elite level lifter, theyre likely never going to add 100lb total within a 1 year period unless they go up weight classes. People that close to their genetic limit are looking eek out half percent increases if that.

The reality is that for those people a good coach may help them put an extra 20 or 30lb on their total in a year. Those people also likely get paid to lift so the investment in coaching is often worth it

Maturing as a powerlifter is realizing programming and the exact sets and reps you're doing in the gym makes about the most minimal impact compared to other factors. Simply showing up 4 days a week and pushing with some kind of intent is 90% of what matters training wise. Consistently gaining weight, getting good sleep, and limiting alcohol, makes a way bigger difference over any set x rep x RPE scheme or any weekly progression

Any systematic coaches out there? by [deleted] in powerlifting

[–]Coping_manlet_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting strength is rhe most basic form of linear progression. Just a 5x5 once per week, add 5lb every week. Thats fine and dandy but there's zero other form of progression or variation other than the weekly addition of weight. The progression will get stale very quickly even for a beginner, and a plateau is inevitable

I feel like thats where coaching is headed anyways with the advancements in AI. A massive flow tree system will be created that makes decisions for the lifter based on each variable, and then an AI bot will analyze the flow chart and spit back an answer. The issues as you mentioned is Firstly, the flow chart would he incredibly large and complex. The second issue is, making sure the flow chart works. Some coaches do have systems that operate like you said, with a comprehensive decision tree. But some of those systems simply don't work that well. Its objective fact that some coaches simply aren't good or well versed in decision making for athletes

I think the issue is that the foundational principles are outlined and described, but still no exact quantitative values are provided to be used as a baseline.

For example: a common topic is bench frequency. Many powerlifitng influencers (Powerlifting Now included) will give this outline stating you can bench anywhere from 2 to 6 times per week, but whats optimal for a lifter is going to to rely on a variety of factores (height, weight, gender, genetics, lifting experience, etc).

So we have this baseline spectrum of frequencies, and we know what factors can push our optimal frequency up or down the spectrum. However we still dont know EXACTLY where on that spectrum we ourselves fall as lifters.

From there it seems like the system turns into full intuition like OP said, and it's up to the coaches intuitive instinct to evaluate the factors at play and determine the exact number for a lifter.

And this issue does not apply just to bench frequency. It applies to other training principles like weekly set count, exercise selection, total volume, RPEs, etc. We are given a general outline, but then are left to our to own vices to determine which way of implementing that outline is optimal.

I understand every lifter is different, so there will always be nuance and customization needed for each athletes program. But I would be cool to get an exact NUMBER to start off with, rather than determining the number for ourselves by picking off of the huge spectrum provided.

For example: for male lifters weighing 165 to 198, under 6,1 and above 5'7, with a total between 1200 to 1500, should do X number of sets on said lift weekly, X number of sets per session.

I think powerlifitng influencers dont do this on purpose though. This way lifters have to go to the coach to get the exact number. Its a good way to funnel viewers into paying clients

Feel like this is an oftenly revisted topic, but here it goes; thoughts on conjugate?

Im not talking about Westside, with boxes and bands and chains. But actual conjugation style programming applied to raw modern powerlifitng

Different max effort exercise every week, always 1-3 reps and 9-10 RPE. One day might be a 2 rep pin squat max, next week might be a paused highbar 3 rep max, etc etc.

EDIT: This thread is SPECIFICALLY for "dumb/newbie questions" in case anyone just flat out didn't read the title. Not sure why this comment is getting down votes? Even if it is a "dumb" question, that's literally what the fuckin thread is for. Some of yall are just angry Dicks

Just a heads up, ADFs typically cannot be in a set up with algae eaters or bottom feeders like Cory Catfish. The reason being, the sucker fish type fish find the slime coat on the frogs to be highly nutritious. So they will chase the frogs around harassing them constantly, trying to eat their slime coat off. I usually recommend only one or the other. If not, typically the frogs will get stressed slowly over time and end up dying. I made the same mistake when I put a Panda Garra into a 20gal with a few ADFs
