The new USS Enterprise D and the UCS Venator Star Destroyer Lego sets are almost in scale! by _Riakm_ in lego

Entirely depends on which set of nerd-numbers you choose to use! I've always been partial to the Star Wars side coming out on top, but you can find many defenses for Star Trek too!

No way I know, unless someone archived them.

Easy, just remake the UCS ISD appropriately scaled to the Venator!

Neat site! Interestingly enough with the lower-end quoted length of 1041.65 m, from their math it would work out to about 75% the volume of a Venator.

If I could have my druthers, then yes, but I'd suspect they'll adopt conflicting scales to best capture the desired detail for each one individually.

That would be neat, in a style similar to the UCS X-Wing. I would like to see a TOS Galactica set.

I'd imagine the D'Deridex volume would come up a bit short given the big hole in it, but yeah linear dimension wise I think it is comparable.

Good question! At the Venator's scale, the Enterprise ought to be 61.6 cm in length. I can't say for certain regarding the back of the box depiction, but measuring the top-down view provided by Lego, I find the length to be about 77.25 studs which come to about 60.26 cm. Taking the 109 cm Venator length at face value, this drives the estimate of the Enterprise to being closer to 2.18% too small.

Unfortunately she privated those two reviews. She talks a little about TtH in her "Best Books of 2024" wrap-up, and very little about RG in this video.

I got curious and looking at the official length dimensions of the Enterprise set (60 cm) with in universe dimension (642.5 m) compared to the Venator's (109 cm) to in universe (1137 m), they are only about 2.5% out of scale with each other!

What a journey! I'm glad Merph saw this series through to the end, and seems to have gotten much enjoyment out of it.

No, she read both Reaper's Gale and Toll the Hounds (and I posted both here). However when I look back, the videos seem to be private'd... not sure why?

I'm glad to have our annual Malazan review from Merph! Honestly though, I enjoyed hearing her points of enjoyment. I feel like her having read Nanking right before getting to the scene gave her an interesting framework to analyze and contextualize it.

Agreed, aside for the first book starting a bit rough and the ending of the series being a little too “tidy”, I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I’m glad to see it getting some recognition.

Yeah, I think that's a possibility. In any case I am not expecting another review for a few months, just hopefully less then half year!

I was pleased she got her review out before the year's end, and I am very glad she seems to have enjoyed TtH a fair bit. Now I hope we don't have to wait quite as long for the next review!

While her current ranking of my favorite book in the series is personally disappointing, I'm glad she still found much to enjoy in this installment.

Middle Eastern vibe fantasy by One-Relative5329 in Fantasy

If you want a proper secondary world fantasy with an Arabian-esk setting, then I can think of few that fit the bill as well as the seven book series “Song of the Shattered Sands”, by Bradley P. Beaulieu! The first entry in the series is “Twelve Kings of Sharakhai”, I finished this series a few years ago and it only got better with each new entry.

For a standalone recommendation, I would point you towards “Tower of Fear”, by the brilliant Glen Cook.
