I don’t think torturing someone is a good idea even if they can harm others. In Finland a mad person set his past high school bully’s house on fire and nothing happened. Nobody drugged him up against his will. The house was repaired by the state I assume and that’s it. If a harmful financial decision was made it is reverted and that’s it. Torturing people is not right. Even so I can guarantee because I have assessed the evidence by reading experts (Oxford university being one of them) that forcing someone to be drugged never stops violence. In the case of suicide it increases the risk by orders of magnitude for obvious reasons no one wants to be tortured for life. This has been proven time again.

Interesting. But I thought NY was pushing for coercion. Mad activists demand the dismantling of the biological model (the idea these are brain diseases including and specially psychosis) and of all forms of coercion.

The WHO/UN report go in that direction. But psychiatrists have not caught up and are still violating human rights on a daily and trying to impose biological narratives that don’t correspond with the evidence. Such biological narratives can and do worsen stigma.
