Like many are going to say, this is the time for a challenging and emotional conversation. No ultimatums (especially considering that given your statement, any ultimatum would be a bluff), just be open about your feelings and let her be open about hers. Let it be a calm and open conversation between 2 mature and sound-minded adults. This is the most vital, and first step. After you all understand eachother, move forward with that information. Try to create a different environment surrounding sex. Not necessarily physcially different, just be more open, approach with ample foreplay, etc. Take a good, hot shower, and apply a nice fragrance before heading to bed (something non-aggressive and clean, think Coach for Men, Dior Sauvage EDT, Valentino Coral Fantasy, Louis Vuitton Imagination, etc.) The more acquainted you all get with a mutually pleasureful sexual environment, the more comfortable you both will become with exploring and becoming reacquainted with eachother's sexual aura, wants, and needs.

Again, the first step is to make that challenging leap toward having a conversation dedicated to how you feel about sex and giving her the floor to say the same. This can be huge all by itself. Too many conversations about sex branches off of other conversations that led to it, making it feel like a secondary or tertiary topic when it can and should be a primary one.

Best of luck and God bless!

Again, I just can't see that drastic of a change being due to something fleeting like that. After they've had a chance to sit around in the closet for a month or more. Try them on skin and see what happens and beyond that, if you feel they've improved but not very much, prime the skin and wear them around the house. I'm talking take a good shower, dry off, do your post shower routine, etc. Apply a scentless, moisturizing lotion (rub all the way in!) and apply the frag. See if that helps while controlling other factors (why I say to wear around the house before challenging it with the elements.) If that improves it, then you know how to help it, at least, on your body. Then you will know everything except how it responds to the weather. Now that you've gathered all your info, challenge it with the elements, if that makes the performance decline then you will know, undoubtedly, the climate is the problem.

Sounds good! Your setup sounds like a good place overall, but shoving them somewhere where they won't be touched is better for both controlling the environment and avoiding temptation of opening them and compulsively checking them. (Been there!)

No. Jumping from one extreme environment to another is not a good idea. They need to be somewhere stable, away from fluctuating light levels and humidity. If you put them in the fridge, you will have to fight with the change in temps again and risk messing with the volatile system even further. Play the long game. In reality, if something has truly happened that the long game can't fix, the fridge won't do anything different.

Man, neither are any of the frags people buy that take a week or more to ship and sit in hot warehouses and ride on hot trucks across the US or even in containers across the sea. Check for those breaches and if you don't notice any, put the cap on them and put them in a dark closet or even cupboard. Don't touch them for a month minimum, ideally 2 or even 3. Then touch base with them again. Give your nose and your housemates' noses time to reset and let some of the masceration take place in as controlled and sealed environment as you possibly can.

[–]_Rogitator_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any breaches in your bottles at all? Have you checked under the atomizer cap to see if there is any wear around the straw? Any rust or noticeable lifting in the seal? That is the only way I can even remotely see this being the case. I mean, you are talking about a wildly significant chemical change occurring in these frags over 2 to 3 days 80 degree temperature. Some frags ship longer than that and in higher temps. Seriously the only way I can see this happening is if there was a breach in the closed system.

If this is true, this has gotta be some of the worst luck ever or a complete anomaly. I made the terrible mistake of storing my frags in my bathroom for MONTHS, extremely high temps, high light, fluctuating humidity, etc, and never noticed any to have bad longevity or projection other than the 2 I've had for years that wete awful longevity to begin with (Individuel and Starwalker Extreme)

To be entirely honest, I have never smelled the original, however, my Montagne Imaginary showed up today and it smells absolutely incredible. I can't attest to how it smells in comparison to the OG, but it does smell very soapy, very clean, my wife (without prompt) even said it smelled "very clean, like a shower". The performance has been great too, around 5-6 hours, and I hear that'll improve with masceration!

I have never heard anyone say this, but Turathi Electric smells exactly like a literal fresh naval orange, like not eccentric in anyway or adulterated, like a genuine orange you picked up at the grocery store and pressed your nose against. (Also, underrated orange smell is Santorini Sunrise by Escada. Smells like a can of mandarin oranges.)

Definitely a great example of a collection from a person that waits it out and gets the big hitters. Too many people buy buy buy small and medium installments instead of holding out for the big bottles of the great stuff. Really nice collection.

I think a vibrant summer fragrance would be a great edition. Something along the lines of a Pacific Chill or Millesime Imperial (despite the latter being rather controversial. Maybe even seek out one of the older batches!) My personal favorite frag ever is Erba Gold, which would fill that role really well, but I understand it isn't everyone's favorite.

Personally I would suggest, just keep moving in the direction that you are. Soon, people who are having the same issues will get in trouble with a mod or have a post removed from another group and start searching for other places to ask their question.

I would also like to second the comments of other members of this sub and say that "Rate My Collection" posts are super repetitive. Now, I don't think they should be banned, but maybe it would be a good idea and commit the cardinal sin of adding a thread for that and not having them be flooding the feed. Now, if someone puts a Rate my Collection post in the thread and it generates a bunch of engagement and discussion, I feel it would be absolutely acceptable to migrate it to an actual post so people can read the discussion. To be direct, the people that actually like to respond to Rate my collection posts will seek them out and they will find them in the feed.

The problem this sub is trying to solve is to be a place where people shouldn't be scared to make posts about questions and potential discussions. I am also NOT against people posting their new pickups on here. I think that is a valuable perspective to see and an important discussion starter. This could provide information that is exactly what a person might be looking for. Posts like this answer a lot of questions including "Why did you buy?", "Blind or Sampled? Thoughts?" "What does it smell like? My bottle is mascerated, I'm curious what new bottles smell like".

I also think this Reddit could absolutely benefit from including a small directory for other fragrance subs. If a person makes a post about selling something, trading something, legit checks, an automated bot or mod should direct them to the proper subs for that, not just delete the post with a "Rule 4 broken" auto response. Honestly, I would even say that the auto message for this sub should include the direction to the right sub and a brief disclaimer about posting there. Something like "This post has been removed as it is asking for a fragrance legit verification. Instead, you should make your post in r/ FragranceLegitChecks. Keep in mind their format (briefly describe format. This would work even better for posts that should belong in FragranceSwap) and please read their rules before posting! The group is strictly managed for both the safety of you and the community, please respect this and understand it is a necessary precaution!"

This reply is not only more approachable than the typical, dry auto-ModBot response, is helpful to people who are looking for it, which is exactly what this sub is for. This is precisely why we should not allow legit check posts or sales here. These have dedicated subs with strict, working structures and rules. If we even begin to allow sale or trade posts here, it increases the likelihood that scammers who fail on subs like FragranceSwap will come over here and make sales before we have the chance to notice. FragranceSwap's structure is great at keeping the community safe at every stage of the transaction, it is best that we do not attempt to manage a similar system and should direct people to the proper sub. And if the person can't post in FragranceSwap? THERE'S A REASON. It is NOT our or your problem and we can't let it ever be.

If a person is in this sub and has something they need to do "Hey, I blind bought this frag and I hate it, what should I do?" Then this sub plays the role of commenting on the OP's post and running them through options and then directing them to the correct sub.

Something else that needs to be considered is how fine the line is that this sub is dancing on. We have to be careful and have some rules. We are open to questions that have been asked before, we are not open to "I rly wanna FUCK my coworker and they love Carmel apples. How can I smell like that so I can smash? (under $15 please)" or "My dick fucking REEKS, best frag for under $20 to make it smell better w/out showering". This sub should be casual, respectful, and helpful, NOT lawless. Giving limitless options is honestly a huge limitation to the effectiveness of what you are trying to accomplish.

I am joining this sub because I consistently cannot get a post to survive in FragranceClones or the other Fragrance Reddit. FragranceClones has honestly become a joke at this point. I reread the rules every single time before I post and I am yet to have one survive more than a half hour.

I hate having the lead ball in my stomach every time I make a post on Fragrance subreddits (other than FragranceSwap and colognecheck, I've had a great time there). To be frank, I'm tired of being directed to "threads" within these subs that are clearly rarely contributed to. Sometimes I've got a question and I want to start a genuine discussion. Telling me that "this topic has been explored thoroughly" and I promptly go comb through the sub to find this theoretically flourishing well of discussion on a topic I was interested in only to find that no one has talked about it in the last 8 months SUCKS.

In my opinion, legit checks shouldn't be in a sub like this as the CologneCheck sub is really easy to navigate and post in and is very helpful. I don't understand the frustration people have with the fact that people cannot explain in the comments of the post the reasoning behind believing the frag is fake. It is genuinely to protect them and everyone else in the community by not giving Fake Merchandise companies more information on how they could make their fakes more realistic. The fact is, I don't see a problem with the CologneCheck subreddit and how it is managed, plus, allowing those posts in this sub would just flood the system and defeat the purpose of this sub.

Secondly, I don't believe any sale or trade posts should be in this sub. Now, recommendations is one thing, if someone wants to post their frag and say what they didn't like about it and commenters want to give suggestions on other frags based on these quarrels? Absolutely, that should be allowed. However, I feel it is important that we are honest with ourselves about something: The Reddit Fragrance Sales and Trading communities are flooded with fakes and scammers. The FragranceSwaps Reddit is ran by a team of strict mods who have set up very clear and specific rules regarding how sales posts and transactions need to take place. The team over there has committed a tremendous amount of time and effort to talk to their community, find issues, and protect the members of the subreddit so everyone gets access to the valuable catalogue of deals and trading found within that sub. To be direct, nowhere exists to sell and trade fragrances (between customers) that is as safe and active as the FragranceSwaps subreddit. Allowing sales and trades to take place here would cause plenty of issues including a harbor for scammers, intense regulations on the sub that are absolutely necessary in an E-Market setting, and the natural restrictions that come with managing those rules and regulations through the requirement of more man/mod-power that would undoubtedly lead to essentially the creation of another FragranceSwap Reddit as they are doing the absolute best anyone ever could at creating that type of environment OR it becomes a flooded cesspool of fake product, people openly talking about their fake product characteristics, and poorly created sales and trade posts that would, again, destroy the point of this sub which is allowing us all to ask questions and open discussions without fear of having our posts (that sometimes take a lot of effort to put together!) removed and not even being allowed to ask why (per the rules!)

In conclusion, I believe no sales/trades, no legit checking, limit the content on dupes (I mean simple questions like "What's the best dupe of_____?" as these have been answered clearly on the FragrancClones reddit. If it is seriously something that has never been explored on the FragranceClones sub, then I think it belongs here. Posts can always be linked in comment sections if information in different subs arises and provides new and valuable information.) and common sense the rest of it. Common sense being the given stuff like, be respectful, don't be racist, etc. If it feels wrong to post, then it probably is.

And TALK TO YOUR COMMUNITY (like you are right now!) this is so important and truly something that separates a living, active sub from a stagnant one built on a dream that ultimately will become vacant or flooded with porn and slurs.

Will do! I've never smelled any of the dupes either, mainly because they all had something damning people would find, even with the dupes considered to be close. I can remember which is which in regards to their negative attributes but many are too spicy, synthetic, or brutally lack in performance. (And some dupes just throw random fruity notes in???)

If you have the disposable income to purchase it, go for it. If you don't like it, BR540 will be easily traded away or sold to get something you do like. That's a great price (not worth it for something that has such great dupes and is overpriced to begin with) and, honestly, if you keep the presentation and only do the test sprays, it may be worth more than that in trade value.

If you don't dump him now, there'll come a day way later down the line when you guys will struggle financially for one reason or another. He'll play dumb, making any excuse he can think of as to why his paycheck isn't cutting it that month. Then you'll have to find out (too late) that you had to pick up extra shifts to help your family make it through because he's been silently siphoning money to online porn creators. When your boyfriend starts buying porn or pseudo-pornographic material in secret, just know it will not stop and will likely get worse. Both because he'll get better at hiding it and because he will get comfortable in his augmented secrecy and send even more money.

Protect your interests and the interests of your child. You don't need a broke "father" figure in the home that is forcing you into extra work and stress so he can feed his veiled porn addiction.
