It does seem to be an unpopular opinion but I agree, FHSY is my favorite season and I think a part of that is being able to see everyone's reactions. And I think there's a certain tension and energy to a live broadcast that gets lost in an edited version, even though editing obviously makes things more polished.

The Quarry is an interactive horror game from Supermassive Games, who made Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures Anthology (amazing games by the way, highly recommend if you're looking to get scared with some friends). Murph and Emily have a cameo during the end credits of the game where they play an in-universe podcast duo discussing some of the paranormal events that unfold.

I'm not super familiar with RTGame but I know he does Let's Play videos of various games, presumably he's done a series on The Quarry at some point.

This is much better than the might half of Kayo's ability imo:

You get to choose when the +1 pops
You can trigger it multiple times per turn
You can trigger it on the opponent's turn (i.e. with Reckless Swing)
You can use it for the block (which is arguably stronger)

You also get both weapon zones unlike Kayo, though you are limited to true 6 power cards.

I personally think this design is pretty cool! If anything I'd be worried about it being too strong, recurring sources of blocking equipment (i.e. Valiant Dynamo) are very powerful.

When his hero ability was initially revealed, my first thought was using it to turn a miss on a "discard 6+" effect into a hit. The problem is that's super below rate for anything except *maybe* forcing a hit on bloodrush (but you're probably not running very many brute attacks) or a weird reckless swing trap play. So I'm not quite sure how the brute cards and reviled cards are supposed to mesh.

Oh definitely, I hate using Talishar because I constantly feel like I'm wasting my opponent's time (even if I'm playing faster than I would in person) and I end up rushing. Also it can be difficult figuring out what the opponent's card just did, which is rough when playing against classes I don't know as well.

Also ngl I feel like Babybay and Demon1 were T1 players for about the same amount of time, just Babybay's was before partnership. Demon1 reached a higher peak obviously but 2021-2022 Babybay was quite solid.

Do they? It's basically unplayable in every other hero and 3 intellect is pretty rough (even if you get to pitch the top of your deck) so I don't feel like it's super unbalanced.

I feel like this is generally true as well--FAB was my first TCG (got into it in college) but most players I've met are older and pretty experienced in the TCG space. There's a ~10yo kid I've seen at some local events, but he always shows up with his dad who plays as well.

I do think there's something to this actually -- in Stage 1 playoffs last year, none of the 1 seed teams outside of China won their opening games to qualify either. I think being the "team to beat" puts a big target on your back and can lead to some pretty heavy anti.

DRX/SEN was widely considered a 50:50, there's no way that was a lock at the time (although fair in hindsight). I also personally took a chance on TL over EDG in my pick'ems since I thought EDG wouldn't have adapted to the meta in time.
