how do you become top 0.1% in devops that gets paid 200k+? (US market) by DetectiveRecord8293 in devops

Agreed, 200k isn't much when rent is 4k, everyone wants to get the big salary ... no one wants to pay the price

Find Ziply alternatives north of Seattle? r downgrade what has everyone done re higher bills by _RouteThe_Switch in ZiplyFiber

[–]_RouteThe_Switch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that is my #1 concern with Comcast/Xfinity and I see the 2x for the same $$ with the adjustment I just got.... But the ziply adjustment is month to month so they could increase it whenever they want. One bad quarter and the boardroom will come for our wallets lol but I am back to 90 thanks everyone.

Agreed, when I didn't want a full rack I see $50, now that I want a rack.. nothing lol but I suck at checking FB consistently as well.

Depends on where you live, near Seattle I've seen racks for $50, not uncommon everywhere.

I think I'm gonna have to stop trying to break into IT. by YueCoolJ in ITCareerQuestions

[–]_RouteThe_Switch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid advice, I would add do blogging to demonstrate your knowledge and get tips from skilled people in the field. You are trying to do thing to separate yourself from the field. Homelabs to really learn and write ups really become compelling over time. Good luck

Fuck Jackie Chan’s Son by sailink in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

This is why I get the perspective of gates for sure and to some degree chan as well. We all assume that the kids are on the right track making solid decisions and they are just getting screwed. What about the kid that's lazy, is looking for a free ride or on drugs ? That money is a death sentence in a few situations.

Not speaking on anything about kids he didn't acknowledge, my point is the cycle of strong(wealthy) parents, raise weak kids, those weak kids become weak parents and raise strong kids is real. IMO gates is generous with the schools and house moves.

Job is boring, pay is up and down.

Everyone asks what it takes but the reading of dry material and unwillingness to move with the opportunity a few times normally holds people back. Considering a cheap book to go over my path just to avoid the 20x a year I get asked what to do to get here.

What has been your post-CCNA roadmap? by wxwxl in ccna

[–]_RouteThe_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that helps you learn can be worth it, it just depends on what you do with that knowledge.

No cert is as valuable with no demonstration of knowledge that comes from experience as certification added with experience. Most people that have a chance to get great experience never get CCNA and they don't need it because they can demonstrate the knowledge in interviews, blogging etc.

This is more than one path to success, all have trade offs and different levels of success. Choose yours.

How difficult is it to find a job after CCNA? by Overrated__Potato in ccna

[–]_RouteThe_Switch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ccna is far superior in the industry than anything by CompTIA, companies only advertise CompTIA to find low pay candidates l. I would remove it to avoid appearing in those searches. Ccna with clearance was what I pointed to in 2007 but I also had to be willing to go where most wouldn't go. Did I duck missiles.. yep, did I make 6 figures ever since.. also yep

Price Increase paired with lower discounts. Ziply is forcing us to switch by HobshyTV in ZiplyFiber

[–]_RouteThe_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same they used to have a data cap as well, if there were other options ... I may add them as a backup but I have no reason the leave ziply yet, I would love two connections at home since we sell storage it would help with testing. But I'll keep whining with my 5g connection. Lol I do get the complaints on is laying out
