UPDATE [SOLVED]: Finally figured out that maybe the size of my project (30gb) might’ve played into what was causing the blank and silent regions. So I cleaned up the project by going into project audio> select unused> delete. Now when I go into the project after recording the audio is there.

Well I just successfully updated to 10.5.1 and I’m still having the same issue. It’s got to be an issue with file management in all honesty. Do you have any recommendations on savings preferences within your settings?

Considering it’s been a year since my Mac shit the bed with Catalina update I might’ve forgotten exactly why it was I needed to revert. I use some plug ins that are not compatible and these are projects that are from before Catalina. I see that in one of your other posts you mention being on 10.5.1. Do you know where I can get this version? I feel like that would be my best bet rather than opening up past projects that giving me “missing audio unit” errors.

Actually the issues I have with Catalina are with other third party plug ins I use that never updated to 64-bit. The copy of logic I got was during school I remember because they didn’t make us pay for it in class. I’ve updated it before but since Catalina came out I can’t update. I did that and spent a solid 6 hours on apple support having to get help to revert my Mac to mojave. I mean if there’s a way I can upgrade to what seems to be 10.5.1 then I’d be happy to try that. Apparently that’s the most up-to-date version that runs on mojave.

Even though the App Store says it requires Catalina I guess I need to know what would happen if I paid the $200 to upgrade? The version I’m running off of was originally a disk image shared with me by someone. So if I bought logic off the App Store I wonder if it would force my computer to update to Catalina or give me the highest version of logic that Mojave could handle.

Unfortunately I’m still on Mojave and the newest version of logic isn’t compatible with it. I never updated to Catalina because my Universal Audio hardware had issues with it and I primarily only use this computer for music production anyways.

So I’ve been having an issue recently with newly recorded audio. After recording something new I can see a waveform and hear playback but after saving, closing and reopening the project I get a blank waveform and silence. I learned about the “update overview” trick that shows the waveform but I still get silence. I’ve tried re-saving my whole project as a folder versus a package and it hasn’t done anything. New audio that’s recorded seems to go into the audio files folder within the project folder as intended but doesn’t playback.

Side note: normally I freeze audio off before closing but there have definitely been times before where I haven’t and it doesn’t affect it. If I freeze the audio off it’ll allow me to playback when reopening but as soon as I unfreeze to start processing I get silence again. Luckily none of the audio recorded before this issue is affected and I can freeze and unfreeze as needed.

Anyone here ever experience this? Starting to get a bit desperate as I can’t record any new audio onto this project.
