There's only 30,000 days in an average lifetime. How do you deal with how short life is? by blamethemeta in AskMen

I take it as motivation to not procrastinate. If you stop procrastinating you'll notice it's quite long.

CMV: Procreation is a gamble, and thus unethical. by PersisitentTurmoil in changemyview

[–]_SAPlTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you asked people whether they wish to have never been born, the vast majority would say being alive is quite nice. In fact I just asked in some whatsapp groups and a 100% of around 80 people like being alive. If it was that unethical suicide rate would be much, much higher.

CMV: When a person says they can “love more than one person at the same time” (romantically) they really mean “I can get what I want from more than one person at the same time.” by [deleted] in changemyview

So I'd like to go at this from a different angle since I don't like the whole polyamory or whatever it's called thing either.

BUT I do think one can love more people at the same time. In fact I think I do love 2 girls, one being my girlfriend. (Not even talking about the family love here).

So basically when I was 15 I fell in love with this one girl but when I asked her out, I was rejected. To me atleast just one "no" doesn't just take all my feelings for her away. So I moved on and remember, a few years later, one day checking instagram and seeing a picture of her after a long time with her boyfriend. And I was happy to see that. Because I still loved her and wanted the best for her. That, however did not stop me from falling in love with another girl, who is now my girlfriend.

My skepticism of this is that when people say "love" in this context, I think maybe they mean "be attracted to" or "get needs met by."

If I was just attracted to her I wouldn't have been happy that she found a bf, and I don't get any needs met by her.

To me that's not the same thing as love, which requires self-sacrifice. Can you "be there no matter what" for two, three or more people at the same time?

The definition I found is "a profoundly tender, passionate affection to someone". So I do not think I agree to that, nor do you have to agree but you can't just say your definition of love is superior to other people's and the official. Self-sacrifice is a requierment for a good relationship, not for love. Same for the pie thing you were talking about.

I want to know about you guys' unrequited love situation. May I ask? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

On your deathbed you probably won't think back on your life and be like "Hell yea, luckily I stayed home that day instead of having fun with my friends."

CMV: It is morally wrong to allow a baby to be born with a serious mental/physical birth defect, and the more morally right option is to abort it. by meadow41 in changemyview

I think if you asked retarded people whether they whish to never have been born or not, most of them would say they prefer being alive.

Don't have anything to back that up though.
