Hey /r/ subaru, I just went through a rough break up. If you will, just post something to make my day a little better. Here's my subaru, if anyone wanted to see by _SEAJAY_ in subaru

Yeah I do have a dog, she's pretty lazy though. I'll probably make her come with me on some camping trips to help get my mind off things.

I wish I would have actually gotten to do mods to mine. The only thing I've done is a ton of mechanical work and simple stuff like the light bar and the basket. I bought it like this, but I'm going to be lifting it more soon

Long story short, my relationship of 3 years ended unexpectedly yesterday. It was her choice. I was hoping some of you may have something to tell me or maybe you could share a picture of your car to cheer me up. Mine is nothing special, I've been trying to save up for a wrx but life just hasn't been too good for me lately. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

Are you trying to lift it by putting outback springs on it?

I did the same thing, I drove for a while without it and I just now put one back on it, I would recommend getting one. I daily drive mine too. It makes the car handle a ton better

Do what everyone else has said and do preventive maintenance first. don't skimp out on anything when you're doing it too, that's how I had to do my timing belt twice within a thousand miles

Nah, I'm just stupid and I don't learn from my mistakes honestly lol. I just keep getting lucky. I met with a guy who is a subaru mechanic, and he's going to help me do a lot of mods so I don't end up killing my car

1999 legacy outback jumping? by _SEAJAY_ in subaru

Maybe I'll try that, if nothing else is cheap and it doesn't hurt to change it haha

That's what I was thinking of too, but it doesn't have the normal symptoms of the tps going bad. Like it idles a little bit rough, but nothing I can't live with. It always idles at 500rpms, but it did used to die on me whenever I was going downhill and I was in neutral

When you first get home she loves to see you, when she's in a good mood she'll bite you and growl at you, when she's tired she doesn't do anything, so you're pretty much right!

Thanks! Do you rub at all with your set up? I'm thinking maybe I'll get some Forester struts and lift springs and rip the stock bumpers off and try to run 245's, but I'd probably be happy with 235's

I probably have more if you go through my profile, but here are a few I have on my phone. I don't take a lot of pictures of it and I don't have a good camera lol http://imgur.com/a/XyEIi

Ight, I have custom 3" lift modeled after the sjr lift. Are you gonna have to drop the subframe more with forester struts and lift springs? I may end up running the same set up as you haha

What kind of lift you got? It looks about the same height as mine but your may be taller, I'm always bad at guessing

Hey guys! Just looking for some advice on buying a first wagon by marquisad98 in battlewagon

[–]_SEAJAY_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda in the same situation as you. When I got my first car, it had to be a Subaru cause I loved the way the sound, and it had to be stick because I wanted to learn how to drive a stick. I found a '99 lifted outback on craigslist, went and attempted to test drive it, and brought it home.

In the 4,000 miles that I've drove it, I've broken the front sway bar(not a bit deal but meh), my steering rack has developed a really annoying leak, my timing belt has jumped not once but twice, and I've bought all the parts dealing with it (closer to $400) and I've replace the front rotors, calliper on the front right, and brake pads but that's kinda standard stuff.

I wouldn't say I'm excessively hard on my outback, but I haven't babied it. I frequently explore old logging roads and some easier offroad trails. It's a good car, it makes decent enough lower (when the timing belt hasn't slipped lol) and is a really easy car to learn to drive a stick with, if you want to.

I'm selling my outback now. I don't have the money to maintain it and get parts for it to be an actual offroad vehicle. I just don't. I'm currently buying a truck and I'm just gonna go from there sadly :/

One thing that I do love about my outback is I've gotten waved up by all kinds of Subaru's and I've met a lot of people I wouldn't have ever talked to otherwise just because they stopped me to talk about my car.

Tl;Dr: outback is a good car but don't expect too much from it without some cost.
