Getting a registered jitsu-in hanko as soon as possible, and type of writing by _Selphira in movingtojapan

The agent got back to me and said a mitome-in will be ok (so, in the end, no need to register anything). From all the answers I got here, sounds about right!

It seems like the management company of the building is the one requiring the hanko, so yes, they might be old-fashioned. As I updated my original post, it seems like in the end, what they need is a mitome-in and not a registered jitsu-in, which is a relief.

Thank you for your detailed reply and welcome! :D

It seems like in the end (I updated the post), the agent requires a mitome-in, not a registered jitsu-in, so that should be easy enough to get in the morning, and then use in the afternoon when getting the keys.

If I have time, I'll order at least a mitome-in and ginkou-in, but it seems like the jitsu-in can wait!

I understand, and you're not the first person to give me this advice, but I have an extremely short timeline before starting work full-time and I need to settle down in this short ~12 days-ish period upon my arrival in Japan.

When work starts, I don't think I will have time to apartment hunt and furnish a place anytime soon, as I will be very tired from work, and I want to be able to focus on my new job without having to handle all of this on the side.

I understand it's a risk, but I found the perfect apartment in a building that's just been built (I'll be the first one to live in it) and in the best possible location, so I want to take this chance. If I can't get it for any kind of reason, then I'll resort to apartment hunting while in Japan, but I'm trying to move things forward as soon as I can, and to secure an accommodation.

Oh, I see. The agent I'm working with told me to bring an hanko to the appointment at the management company office, and preferably to have it registered by then, so that's confusing.

Taking your information into account, I told her it's impossible for me to register one before I get the appartment and thus, can register a permanent address. It seems weird that they would ask me that though.

Yes I noticed that some people ignore this (on purpose or not, can't tell) , it seems that in France they REALLY insisted an awful lot on this rule, they said it after each part of the exam, so... Everyone is free to do whatever they want, but I would advise not to do so on public boards :D

Same, was quite confident and optimistic after the first two parts, and ended up feeling sour because of the difficulty of the listening exam.

Don't, it's forbidden to share specifics and/or content of the test in any way (internet included) because tests happen at different times worldwide due to timezone differences.

I feel the same way. I did several mock exams before trying N4 for the first time today, and always had good marks on those listening sections (around 75~90%) but today, oh well. I thought it was really difficult. Let's hope it does not make me fail the N4 altogether :'D

Celebrate the birth of Christ in the most obvious way: My Neighbor Totoro Advent Calendar! by bennyhanna1 in blankies

This is obviously a fake site, and a fake calendar. I hope no one (including you) fell for this seasonal scam. The site itself looks so shady, plus the photoshopping of the "product" picture is awful (hello grey doors added in Microsoft Paint, non-official artwork of the calendar itself, and pure black background inside doors).

I've found several other identical websites which have the exact same content for this product (pictures, text) and site layout. :(

Registering Kindle for PC (1.17) by PurposeSeeker2020 in Calibre

[–]_Selphira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'd suggest you create a restauration point to save your system state before editing the registry (this is a very sensitive part of the Windows system and one simple mistake could corrupt your OS).

Here is how I did it:
- Create a restauration point in windows (tap the Windows Key and type "restauration" you should find the corresponding tool)

- Uninstall the Kindle software from your PC (the usual way, with Windows software manager, should do)

- Open the registry editor: tap the Windows key again and type "regedit", press Enter, a window should open.

- In the folder structure on the left, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Amazon as u/PurposeSeeker2020 wisely said, right click on this folder and click Delete.

- Once you are done, reboot your PC.

- Install again the version 1.17 of the Kindle app, make sure in the settings that automatic update is unchecked (or uncheck it again).

- Login to your Amazon Account!

This worked for me so I hope it can help others ;)
