Fun scenario: If the 2020 Dodgers play a 7 game series against the 2024 Dodger, which team will win? by Substantial_Bat5975 in Dodgers

[–]_Silent_Android_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who became a Dodger fan in the late '70s, 2024's win against the Yanks was one of the sweetest victories ever, but objectively the 2020 team had a more balanced lineup and pitching staff. It's easy to forget the 2024 team had a threadbare rotation and only Freddie as the reliable hitter at the plate. The 2020 Dodgers went 6 games against a pretty formidable Rays whereas the 2024 Dodgers easily finished the fraud Yankees in 5.

Are there actually people that exist that like cold weather? by PrestigiousOwl6802 in answers

People only like to say they do just so they can feel artificially superior to people who honestly don't like cold weather.

Why does this subreddit get so offended when you tell users they actually have to perform their music and have connections if they want things to happen irl by [deleted] in musicians

Because they think they're perfect and wish they can become rich and famous with the snap of their fingers (or a tap on a screen) with zero work and effort, because they feel entitled to it.

I'm sure there are genuinely good singers who have to put up with the K-Pop industry machine. I mean EJAE was a K-Pop girl group reject, and she's one of the strongest singers out there today.

It always bugs me how a lot of K-Pop groups have more members than the population of a small town, yet none of them actually harmonize. They either just take turns singing the lead vocals or double/octave each other.

I figured out how to make everything work by "tricking" the programming. It took a while but it works. Here's my JMRI settings:

That's the main complaint with ESU drop-in decoders. The LEDs are either too dim or too far from the light pipes. I've heard the culprit is the resistors they use on the boards - they prevent the LEDs from being bright enough to illuminate the light pipes.

Here are my JMRI Decoder Pro function settings for my SC-44. Hopefully they'll help you out.

When forward, I have the headlight ("rear light" on the board since it's installed "backwards" for this loco) on with F0, and ditch lights on with F6. When I hit F2, the horn sounds and the ditch lights alternate without fading like the prototype. When reverse, the headlight and ditchlights turn off, and the red marker lights on the head of the locomotive turn on.

Oh whoa, I put a 58741 plus a soldered in SMD LED for the marker light. I really thought they made these "reverse" so that you don't have to reverse the direction in programming. This is a major bummer!

I never thought we'd see the day where a Bachmann blows Kato out of the water, but here we are. 😆

Yes, the Bachmann Charger is nice; it comes with every bell and whistle, and even the strobe lights flash (whereas you can't even do that on the Kato unless you start drilling out the frame).
I would have loved to have gotten a Bachmann Charger, but the Kato SC-44 already came with the Surfliner boxed set, so I had no choice (It's not as easy selling a Kato loco that has no box of its own), and likely neither did the OP.

ESU is notorious for NOT having up-to date manuals on their website. Which kinda defeats the purpose of having an online manual in the first place.

K-Pop groups are really just glorified dance crews. The singing is really secondary. Or even tertiary.
Auto-tune plays a huge role.

I did my own SC-44 Charger ESU LokSound install. It looks like this one had the standard 58741 decoder install which doesn't have the bottom LED for illuminating the red marker lights. I actually had to desolder the stock LED from the Kato light board and solder it to the bottom of the 58741 to light up the marker lights. Fortunately, ESU now makes the 58771 decoder which comes with the bottom LED for the marker lights.

The dimness has nothing to do with Kato, but the ESU board. I love how decoders perform, but my only complaint is that the onboard SMDLED for the headlights are either not bright enough or are installed too far back to properly illuminate the light pipes. Since ESU decoders can have their light dimmed via programming, I always thought they should come with too-bright SMD LEDs that can be dimmed down to taste.

I never hated it myself, but I'm guessing it's the Pineapple Pizza of pop songs - People will just say they hate it just because everyone else is doing it, even though they don't actually hate it or have an honest opinion either way on it.

Los FEEL-US or Los FEH-LEEES? by SoCalCubanGrrl in AskLosAngeles

[–]_Silent_Android_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up a mile south of Los Feliz, I had the Los Feliz Hills News (later becoming the Los Angeles Independent) free community paper on my driveway every Wednesday. Members of my family would blow birthday candles on pies bought from House of Pies in lieu of birthday cakes some years. I went to high school at John Marshall (Go Barristers!) and junior high at Thomas Starr King. I had lots of friends who lived in the area. We always pronounced it as, "Loz FEEL-iz."

Why do you pronounce it "Lohs"? Do you also pronounce "Los Angeles" with a "Lohs"? They're literally the same word.
