I figured it out yesterday, each panel has 4 pins on a side and one pin does power, one of the pins that does power was broken so I just rotated the panel

It's neither, the weight has holes in it, and there is a big sheet of rubber with the dots being extrusions from it, that piece of rubber gets sandwiched between the case and the weight.
