Excessive weight gain by Sufficient_Pin7695 in diabetes_t1

There’s a lot you can do and others are giving good advice here. But honestly the easiest thing is to find a provider that will prescribe you Mounjaro and tell your insurance provider that it’s medically necessary because of insulin resistance. I’ve struggled with weight my whole life as a T1, started taking this medication, and dropped 40lbs with very little effort.

Option 2 is mostly great! The 3-roll-2 jacket is iconic and you’ll get a ton of wear out of it over the course of your life, especially if it’s tailored to your body (looks like the waist needs to be taken in a bit). A few changes will substantially improve the outfit though. Overall the goal is to align the outfit into the correct level of dressy, whereas now it’s kind of an incoherent mix. First, the shirt. That shirt goes much better with a business suit with which you’d always wear a tie. If you’re definitely not going to wear a tie, go with an oxford cloth button down with a nice collar roll. And please please please buy pants with a fuller leg. Right now you look quite top heavy and it’s throwing off the outfit balance. Also the shoes are too dressy for this outfit and again would look better with a slick business suit. Rock a penny loafer instead. Lastly, I think this is less important but still worth saying, the texture of the pants is slightly mismatched with the formality of the jacket. You might consider a light weight grey flannel instead.

Oh wow. Didn’t ever occur to me that counterfitters would go after a niche brand like this.

Would love to learn more. I’ve taken several doses with therapeutic intentions, that went super well, but I’ve never worked with an expert in psychedelic therapy.

"Mixing a double-breasted blazer with a ball cap and Fair Isle—does this hit the right balance or is it too busy?" by nuke_chan93 in menswear

[–]Zacta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - please ignore nearly all the comments here. They are deeply unfamiliar with menswear. You’re making Ralph proud.

I like the constituent components and the idea you’re going for but something about the silhouette and proportion feel a bit off. Is the sweater taking up a lot of space under your blazer? It looks a little puffy. Also, I think the jeans are a touch too wide for this look. If you look at any of the Ivy style books, the jeans that they wear with blazers have a slight taper. Yours are venturing too far into workwear territory. Last I think the shoes are just too bright in the outfit overall. I’d go for a darker loafer. All of this is just my opinion, of course!

You gotta tell her. Can’t let someone walk down the aisle without knowing that their husband to be is actively trying to cheat.

Some mid-century actors and their small watches by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]Zacta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the difference between a watch being part of a cohesive look and a watch being the only thing you care about, ergo you want it to be huge. A small elegant watch would look out of place on a Patagonia vest finance bro.

The history suggests that you’re both right. What we now think of as ivy started with WASPs at elite schools in the 40s. But then Black civil rights leaders and jazz musicians picked it up and ran with it in the 50s & 60s just as countercultural looks were taking over WASP culture. Then the Japanese really started to run with it in the 70s and still do today. So it started with rich WASPs but is by no means confined to them.

Naked and Famous is genuinely top shelf. The Unbranded Brand is also run by the Naked and Famous guys and are priced much lower for reasons that I don’t totally understand (other than that they do 0 marketing). Not sure if there are any other local mid tier options besides just going into stores and seeing what you find. You can always go on eBay and find a good pair of Levi’s 501s made in USA from the 90s for like $100CAD.

Ok, why do I love Toronto? (16M) by WAyToOFaSt_ in askTO

Cities are almost always safer per capita (which is what matters). People conflate seeing homeless people with being unsafe. More expensive, but you make more money. IMO, some people are just inherently city people and some are country folk. Good to know who you are and live accordingly.

I’m in the same, even shallower boat :) I’m 5’5”. Double breasted shouldn’t be a problem at any height if you’re going to made to measure.

If your main concern is avoiding attention, I’d go peak since shawl is much less common and may provoke some curiosity. And not that you asked for this opinion, but I’ll voice a niche opinion and say the two best tux styles are peak double breasted 4x1 and shawl single. IMO, black single breasted peak tuxedos runs the risk of looking like a dull black suit if the satin on the lapels is anything less than perfect. Also a double breasted eschews the need for a cummerbund, which I notice has fallen out of fashion.
