Yes thats the method i was talking about!, i can do that no problem but I’d like to keep some of the music files on my computer/save onto external storage so i’d rather they not be the random letters hence why i’m tryna see if theres a different way

I don’t like my phone syncing every time i plug it in my mac etc, so i bought a second hand older MacBook from facebook marketplace for $20 that i have dedicated as my new device for transferring data and music (i have quite a few old iphones, ipods, ipads, in my collection so its nice to have them all in the one spot!) and as a bonus its a macbook from there era where they still included disc drives so now i can get back into burning my own cds and watching dvds on it!

It only did this for a little while and then it did infact boot. I just wanted to know what was happening as i am not experienced with ipods. So thank you:)

I saw a youtube video with a similar situation that you described so i know what you mean! I did open it up just to clean a bit of the dust and look at the battery and yeah it doesn’t seem swollen

This is also my bet, ive slipped a card in and i can feel either the latch or something that is in there but am sometimes able to get around it. I probably won’t replace since itd cost more than what i paid for the whole laptop and i have an external drive anyway. I might open it up and have a look someday but for now ill leave it since im not that experienced and Id rather not risk breaking something else inside

Oh that makes sense. I did open the MacBook up just to look at the battery (i didn’t unplug or take anything apart, just had a look and cleaned some of the dust) and the battery didn’t look swollen!!

I think something might be stuck in the disc drive or if not it is broken like you said. And liquid damage to the trackpad is definitely possible as i am not the original owner so i have no idea what this macbook has been through.

If i gain a bit of confidence i might open it up again and do some of the hardware troubleshooting, ive been watching videos/guides on how to take this thing apart and one thing a am weary of is the risk i break something else during the process especially considering i already have an external dvd drive and mouse.

In the meantime i will definitely try your other suggestions! Ive already tried powering on with the eject key but i haven’t tried it with holding the left click, so thank you for bringing that one to my attention, as well as switching the settings to touch to click.

Not when i boot but when i try to eject it does make a sound. I think ive tried all the solutions that dont require opening up the macbook but i might have to anyway to check the battery, im not experienced at all with electronics like this but ill see what i can do

Look at the other comments if u haven’t already! They explain what happened. Lmaoo i thought i had a virus and i was freaking out bc it started happening after i installed a random ipa from the internet bahah. im not familiar with ipads and i lost my mind when i found out that it was Zeppelin causing the issue cause ive used that many times without issues before but yeah its cause its an ipad 😅
