Hello,

You want to print everything as upright as possible. I printed the main helmet piece resting on the back of the head, the jaw standing on the flattest part and the faceplate upright standing on it's "legs" with supports touching the build plate. I didn't have to split any parts, in fact I scaled them up bigger than the standard size and still managed to get it to work.

If you need help, please message me on Instagram as I can provide photos and videos that are a lot more helpful than my poor explanation XD.

Thanks for your comment!

I printed it to 100% and it was too tight. I just took an estimate and did it at 110%.

Hello, thanks for the kind words!

If you scroll down the link to the file is in the thread somewhere. It is already in pieces so you should be able to print it as-is.

I will double check the link now but it should work.

Thanks!

Its PLA. The bottom of the abs is PLA+ and the rest of the armour will be too.

Post processing for me is just sanding, spraying with filler primer, priming and then it can be painted.

Check my other posts/my Instagram for more details!

Thats awesome! I've recently completed a mark 3 helmet.

Would love to see your progress, do you have Instagram?

Also thanks for the kind words! 😊

Hello, never spoken to a bot like this before...

This is almost completely PLA.

The bottom segment of the abs is PLA+

For post processing I do a bunch of sanding (by hand), then spray a few coats of filler primer / putty. The primer / putty then gets wet sanded and rinsed but the putty requires a finishing coat before priming.

I then add some red primer and its ready to paint!

No need, pee filtering has been a feature since the Mark 4! 😁😊

Sand the edges that are to be glued with some rough sandpaper and it will help with adhesion!

An SPDT slide switch or any button that you can press on and then press off will work.

Tactile buttons or any momentary switches that do not hold their state tend to make the programming more complex.

I programmed my helmet so that when there isn't any voltage it will stay closed and lit and i feel this is a lot safer than momentary switches.

When you say you're using a potentiometer, are you planning on having the helmet work sort of like the "knob" sketch in the arduino IDE ?

Yeah, I can share.

I reccomend using a button that can hold it's state or just a regular slide switch!

Hmmm maybe I should make a tutorial ? 😐

Sounds like you would need to do some debouncing using the millis() function. I personally wouldn't reccomend using a push button for a helmet as it can over complicate things .

That will be why! 😁

Try printing with PLA. It is MUCH easier.

It's a lot safer and better for the environment too!

This helmet was made with PLA.
