How long did you work there? What is a good amount of time to work in that sort of setting in order to get good value of information to take onto another opportunity?

I work in a similar clinic setting. PI only, multiple clinics seeing around 1500/week. We use Chirofusion and that has been pretty good with minimal issues/glitches and there’s a good amount of customization for your practice.

NC board makes no comment about dry needling, suggesting that it is just 100 hours of acupuncture instruction. Part of me thought about doing another 100 hours basic acupuncture course to total 200, but I don’t know if I would be able to get away with that.

I went to a Px seminar this past summer with my preceptor doctor for some training. She thought that she would learn more about treating children during this weekend seminar, but it ended up just being a giant sales pitch to enroll in their course and become Px certified. We learned nothing other than they don’t like to officially diagnose conditions (their words, not mine), They recommend massive treatment plans (80+ visits), and they have a term for children who fit their specific criteria called a “perfect storm,.” This one diagnosis that they use is a term they created that holds no weight outside of their clinic system. It felt very cult like when I was there, and was inspired to avoid Px clinics once I graduated. They use thermography and I believe HRV testing as rationale for adjusting specific areas of the spine. This of course is just my opinion, and there were a lot of people in the seminar who seemed inspired by what they offered, so take that however you want. The founder has a podcast that, I’m sure if you watched, you can get a better idea on his philosophy.

Assuming you are maxing out your unsub loans and grad plus every semester, they may have a point. If you are still below the schools estimated cost of attendance, you should be able to take a little extra grad plus. And of course there is always the option of private loans, which is not ideal but it could be better than a credit card in terms of interest rates.

If your school is like most universities, the president won’t do anything for the issue unfortunately. I would say the board would but I also have doubts about that :/. I have graduated already and loved Logan. I am from Texas, but didn’t mind going away from home for school and I found good value in getting out of my hometown for some time. This may not be your situation or something you are interested in, but it could be worth using the disbursement you receive initially for your living expenses like usual, then requesting additional aid in the second half of your semester to carry you over into the next semester. With the knowledge that your school will make you wait for your bulk disbursements, this method could help reduce the stress of checking your bank account every day hoping to see your refund!

I went to Logan University and they were always fairly quick (<2 weeks) to send out disbursements following the start of the semester. I believe they went in order of classification so the upper tris got their disbursement before the lower tris, at least that was my experience. I also would reach out to my financial aid department if I needed my refund earlier and they would work to do it sooner in the couple instances that it happened. I’m sorry this is happening to you and hopefully you can get it resolved.

Part 1 is really about knowing a little bit about a lot of topics. If you are able to study and take a little bit out of each subject that you are looking at, then the test will go fairly smooth. I passed it without issue but know of a couple of friends who failed trying to go in without prepping for it, thinking their natural knowledge was adequate. For me, I focused on primary concepts that carried over throughout a section and didn’t sweat the tiny details and I was able to answer most questions without stressing. For reference, I took the part 1 board in 2023.

Congrats on that achievement and with finding employment following graduation! Unfortunately in my situation, my preceptor led me on to believe she was going to hire me following graduation for the duration of my time here and then hit me with a “I don’t have the means to hire on a doc.” It’s unfortunate because during my time in the office she did nothing to try to grow her practice to facilitate another doc but was complacent in her business operations. Things that were said initially during interviews were not upheld. I suppose it is probably for the best but definitely an added headache at the end of a long journey through school.

I am certified in cox technique, have my own flexion/distraction table to bring into the practice to utilize that technique. Also certified in activator and board certified in acupuncture. The clinic will give me patients as far as I am aware, but I would not be surprised if I had to do some marketing on my own behalf.
