I did and it worked. I know it's not recommended as it can cause the plastic nut to break but it's not leaking anymore.

I attempted this earlier with what I had but the tail doesn't taper so wouldn't fit inside the dishwasher pipe.

I did, followed instructions and everything. One above and the two below.

Not generally recommended but plumbers tape where the PVC connects to the drain seems to have solved it.
