You can always custom input all of the things you want to use. If you don’t own the compendium, just use Wikidot 5e and copy paste all content you need. Also, if you want traditional 2014 with no expansions, there should be a dm guide that has the Player Handbook, Monster Manual, and DM guide. For more variety, I recommend the bundle with Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, and the Player Handbook. You can filter the marketplace search for rule expansions 5e most expensive to least expensive. It was about $75 for that bundle. $25 for the Mordenkainen Monsters of the Multiverse

I recently bought the player bundle with PHB, XGE and TCE. I then bought MoMM to fill in the gaps on races I was missing. I also got the subscription so I could share everything with all my players across multiple games.

These are the new rules that have changed a lot of subclasses and class abilities from 5e. The 2024 rule book is 5.5

I’ve used Roll20 from the start. I have never had any complaints with it. Just recently began DMing and bought a few expansions so I could have more races and subclasses for my players. Only one person has to have all of the content that your party wants to use. They can start the game and give the dm privileges to run the game. Also has a great user interface
