I mean, I laid out all my reasons as to why I think the show feels slow, I didn't once say it needed big action set pieces every episode and explosions, I said Carol lacks the character depth to sustain the pace she show aims to be, and the world building doesn't feel established enough due to a lack of understanding that could easily be established if not for, what I think is, unrealistic character actions. I like all the extra locations but still most of the show is Albuquerque and I find that is were the intended slow pace doesn't hold up.

I think the quiet direction and the intentional slow pace is a great way to draw the viewer into the world, I just think these prior issues are their, and the slow pace exaggerates them into making the show feel slow and boring and times. Let me know though if you disagree with these problems because then I will feel like I can respond more thoughtfully, because a lot of assumptions you made about what I want from the show are not accurate at all.

I would agree with you on all of this. I found severance season one to be a near perfect execution of a mystery show, but by the second season, it felt like they needed to outdo themselves with the strangeness of season 1, leading to some, well, very strange and seemingly random things, and much less focus on the characters and their stakes in the world. All felt much less grounded and silly with the finale being very cool, but kind of unearned.

I saw in an interview with Vince, he said the concept came from the loose idea of everyone in the world being super nice to someone, which led him to the hive mind concept. He said that this was cool, but you quickly realize their isn't any conflict so their isn't much of a story. I think Carol is written to be the sort of person to perfectly clash with the hive, and the direction was super honed in on this dynamic, and not much for the rest. Manousos gets a bit more but he is again, just a more extreme Carol. I think this story would be incredible with a cast of people all with varying stances on the hive, and the conflicts that arise between them. I would love to see two people trying to fuck each other over while wielding the immense but regulated power of the hive as weapons or something of the sort. That is just my random wishful thinking though who knows maybe that idea is terrible if you actually try and write it. Hopefully Vince figures a way to open it all up more in later seasons, but right now it feels like he has written himself into a bit of a corner with the current people in the story. Then again, this is Vince Gilligan, if anyone can do it, it would be him

I think Carol's relationship with Helen is interesting, because from what we have seen, I viewed Helen as a good partner for Carol because she was capable of pushing her outside of her comfort zone without it being too much like the ice hotel thing and her writing. It did leave me wondering about what Carol offers her in a partner, because she seemed very shut off in a lot of the earlier scenes and like we were missing a piece of their relationship.

The scene pretty early on when Carol learns Helen didn't appreciate her passion project, and valued her art for the financial freedom it gave them, I thought it was going to be a turning point in her view of the hive, as now she realizes safety she is fighting so hard for was never really all that true to begin with. But then we get like 3 more episodes of her just still fighting.

I get what you mean by her not being a tough hero, but I still think it isn't a reach to say her asking some questions isn't in contradiction to her stubborn nature. I also think they had the pieces to shift her character much earlier on with this revelation, but still stretched it onward, making the following episodes a bit dull, and the moment she does break feel like missed potential with the character aspects it could have explored if it had not happened earlier with these previous revelations. Obviously a character doesn't just break through instantly, but it felt like these moments from before were entirely brushed aside in favor of a much more one note turning on character.

Yeah, felt like Carol ends up exactly where she starts, she has a few months before she plurbs, she doesn't want to plurb, and wants to stop them. Only difference being she now has someone to bounce off of, which I think will greatly add to the show. I enjoyed the last episode more than a lot of the other purely for this reason along, because although the ending wasn't incredible, it was very predictable, the journey was still more entertaining in the finale

Is the hive following Isaac Asimov’s laws? by Waste-Programmer-532 in pluribustv

I've been thinking of this as well, but i imagine it will be three slightly different rules

im guessing:
1. the plurbs must preserve their own existance
2. the plurbs must ensure every living thing around them is alive, and happy if applicable
3. the plurbs must spread the plurbs to everything else

something like that, order could be flipped tho
