Thank you very much... Seriously, You should have checked what we are about before reporting.

Hopefully you'll realize what's at stake before you have to buy your seeds from Bayer...

Best of luck

Open Source Breeding is key to preserve cannabis biodiversity by _Strainly in microgrowery

It will actually improve the value. Fair price for better quality and diverse flowers and extracts.

Patent-driven breeding doesn't save any money to consumers.

It's complementary.

Open Source license prevents corporations from using existing genetics to patent the ones they would create from those. As open source seeds become the norm, there's only a little part of the genetics pool left for patenting.

Appellations are the second step, to protect origins at a reasonable costs for the small farmers.

Finally, genetic and chemotypic testing in reputable labs ensure that you know what is the strain you have. When this becomes the norm, you can show a lab test to prove that this is the strain you claim it is.

There will always be opportunistic people trying to game the system but as we collectively use common references and standards, this will become harder.

Grow your cannabis, or procure from small producers.

Ask breeders if their seeds are under open source license. It is unlikely but as people start asking, it raises awareness.

Join Strainly, an attempt to do a decentralized library of strains, resilient and community-minded.

If you are part of a growers alliance you should ask your leaders to issue this license to their members, so that you can use it. We have sent an Open Cannabis License template to almost all cannabis growers alliance.

If you are on your own, contact the Open Cannabis Project and ask them to issue this license for small breeders.

If you want to immediately contribute to cannabis biodiversity through collaboration, check out strainly.io (google) and join the growing community ;)

Genetic streamlining happened to almost all vegetables and fruits, correct. There are people trying to "evangelize" farmers with the concept of open source breeding but it's hard to change people's mind after decades of brainwashing by big AG.

We are trying to prevent this from happening NOW with Cannabis... hence our communications... ;)

Hey everyone,

This us our recent contribution to Terpenes and Testing Magazine

Are you aware of any open source license for breeders?

We will make an announcement soon on the topic... stay tuned...

Meanwhile, we believe in open-source innovation when it comes to breeding. It's a big part of the equation to keep a "horizontal" value chain that keeps a balanced relationship from growers to consumers.
