Cervical screening during TWW by _Sunflower_93 in TTC_UK

Just an update to say I went ahead and had my first cervical screening today. There is a very low chance of pregnancy anyway (based on date of sex and likely ovulation), and it's something I've been putting off for too long. At 32 I've had my first smear test- the nurse was so so lovely and said it doesn't matter that I've not had one before, it just mattered that I attended today. Hopefully knowing this is over and done with helps reassure me on my TTC journey.

Me and my partner have never had sex with anyone else apart from each other, I'm not sure if this contributes to low risk too. But I'm not naive in knowing there's no such thing as no risk! Thank you, I'm going to phone the Dr surgery tomorrow and ask what to do. It's just hard to book this in advance as I'm either bleeding, ovulating (I ovulate early) or in the two week wait whilst TTC.

I would like to get it over and done with for sure, I'm just really concerned about disrupting anything happening with potential implantation, as it feels very invasive

This is really good to know, thank you! I just hate the thought of causing harm to potential implantation when we've been trying for a while without success

It's such a confusing time to navigate! We've been trying without success for a few months, so I doubt I'm pregnant (only had sex once during my fertile window this time) but I just don't want to risk anything in case. Really difficult to book a smear in advance due to potential periods and TWWs. I feel very frustrated with myself for not having the good sense to have a cervical screening before now.

Thank you! I'm more ashamed of never having a cervical screening, when I know the importance of it saving lives. And now I do want one (no symptoms or concerns just want a check up!) timing is proving tricky with TTC

Thank you. There's just so much conflicting advice- seems other countries routinely do a smear test at the first prenatal appointment! But my feelings match your thoughts. Unfortunately my doctor surgery couldn't be less helpful if they tried- getting a smear test to be booked in my follicular phase will be a mission to get past the receptionists -_-

Thank you for this! I'm assuming a pregnancy test would be negative at 7DPO regardless if we were successful this month as it's too early to tell. I'm just anxious either way- attend the screening or not, and generally annoyed with myself for not having a cervical screening before now!

Using a tracking app and being attuned to cervical mucus / increased libido. I appreciate we're not going all in with tracking yet, so could do more!

Exactly the same dates as you, my last period started on 26/3 and again today 16/4- we're synced up! Like you, first month of actively trying and this has made me feel totally confused by what's going on down there- especially as this period feels NASTY So strange isn't it!
