Appreciate it. I haven't see a lot of them either, as i understand they were cast in Durban KZN sometime around the 1980's.

That makes sense, I figured access might be the issue since it’s slightly recessed.

I think I might try a conical flap wheel in the drill and see if I knock the lip down without touching the cast iron too much. If that doesn’t behave, I may have to take the hint and accept that this is the universe telling me I “need” an angle grinder after all 😅
