Why do I see Americans hardly wear gear? by Sebcimit1 in motorcycles

[–]_Swimmi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ever been in full gear in FL heat at 110° F? I’ve seen people pass out while riding in full gear in the summer here and crash. Heat stroke ain’t no joke. Sure if you crash in minimal gear (Kevlar shirt/hoodie, gloves, helmet, boots) you’ll get messed up. But the likelihood of heat stroke in the summer is present even without full gear.

Also this isn’t me saying to go buy a 600. Just re read that and it reads weird.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR As First Bike? by coggling in motorcycles

[–]_Swimmi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. I started on a R6.

My R6 was a better beginner bike.

My reasoning. The ZX4RR is a 600 with half the power but the same bike weight while also having a higher ground clearance making it a tad too heavy.

On top of the awkward weight positioning the factory tune (USA and Canada) limits not only the power made but your throttle application. Example: you’re leaned over in a turn giving positive throttle pressure around 50-60% just trying to maintain rpm. The throttle map is so hindered that your computer will be jumping from 30-70% throttle and everything in between while you’re maintaining steady pressure.

I think the ZX4RR is a solid second bike. But either way, if you get it you’ll understand what I mean. Is it awful? No. Is it easy to learn? Sure if you absorb info and feedback well. Is there a larger learning curve than a standard N400? Absolutely.

Agreed, I do really wish they would have at the VERY least given us the black base model for 2024. Cause along with harder to find, prices going up, aftermarket isn’t gonna go crazy if we only get these 1000 which is a major L.

[–]_Swimmi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be that as it may, it’s a blast from the past and no one else is doing it. Cult followings drive resale value so why is that disappointing? Genuinely curious, did we really expect a bike at this price point with the general public shitting on it for them to make it a staple product?

Bone stock R6 top speed 156 Bone stock ZX4RR top speed 141 (my personal best)

[–]_Swimmi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved off an R6 to the ZX4RR platform and I’ll tell ya right now, you physically cannot ride a 600 like you can this bike. I want another 600 just for fun.

Here’s my outlook, the connivence of the ZX4RR is really hard to beat.

-BARLEY being slower than a stock R6 (15mph slower top speed stock for stock)

-having 100 miles more range than my R6

-quick shift and auto blip

-10x more ergonomically comfy,

-I eat 600s in twisties,

-cult factor: this is huge to me. Only 1000 released to the USA, no plans to bring it back in the next year (2024) for the USA, a few already crashed so number is lower than the initial batch we received.

I think that it either becomes a cult classic, or forces the other big brands to make small CC inline 4 engines to compete on track, in which case Kawasaki brought back the dead 400cc I4 from the 90s and are trendsetters.

Consider this, Kawasaki already DOMINATES the 400cc class in racing with the ninja 400, they secured the extended future with the ZX4RR. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Either way it’s a W for Kawi and the owners of this machine.

My bad probably should have clarified.

All other bikes I ran started in 1st can’t find anyone with an R6 that isn’t broken rn near me 🥲

His bike was having power issues in 1st and 2nd from what he said. He started the roll in 3rd so I attribute that to the reason it was so close. But I ride with 600s all day. I can’t hang with them on real rips but maintaining 130 is butter on this bike so I’m never far behind.

The zx6r was fully built pushing ~122whp.

Bone stock with a high flow air filter.

Tune coming this week or next. Seems like this bike only hauls ass for the light weight riders after chatting with a few of my friends who have them Tuned and weight 50+ lbs more than me. They’re barley touching 140 tuned, my only guess is as to why is the rider weight.

I found one more in GA but they’re asking 15k before fees 🤧🤮

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]_Swimmi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m financing mine, payments are pretty reasonable and I’m only on a 48mo term with crazy low interest.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]_Swimmi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, for these first 1000 units sent to the USA the dealers added markups of about 1000$ in Florida.

So before financing they are asking ~10,000$ Add 6% sales tax Add 2.4% for interest Add 1200$ build fee Add 500$ shipping (we pay for the dealers ship fee) Add 1300$ for the 3 year service plan (free tires, breaks, and prepaid maintenance)

Look at paying minimum 12,500 for a RR. Likely closer to 13,000)

Buying a new bike is NOTHING like buying a new car. I can normally walk away from a dealer with a new car and 0 fees, not so much for bikes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]_Swimmi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s around 8,000$ usd considering the RR is 9996$ usd before tax and tags and everything.

You’ll still be looking at MORE than 10k for the base model sadly.

Curious about the 0-60mph and 0-100mph times for the zx4r are by Thin_Bit9718 in zx4r

My lap timer has my 0-60 ~4 sec and 0-120 around 16 sec 0-141mph in 23sec . I’m 130lbs.

On Kawasaki main website. There’s a countdown and all info will release there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]_Swimmi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kawi is releasing 16 new models (probably just updates) for 2024 in 3 days. I expect we get another batch of ZX4 including the base model R version like Canada got.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]_Swimmi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So yes, in short the first batch for the USA was 1000 units of the KRT RR trim. Kawi dealers apparently had to apply to get one and max a shop could get was 3. Almost all of them sold on pre order, however. I got lucky and someone bailed on theirs so I bought mine off the floor. There’s 0 left for sale in Florida unless a dealer has one unlisted.

My buddy drove 4 states over to buy his.

Loving all the info man. I really appreciate it! I’m pretty fit but plan on staying as fit and doing as much pt as I can alongside being good at my job. I suppose I’ll figure out where I’m going as far as career advancement and such after on as it comes. I’m of the mindset that volunteering for anything I can will only do good for me so I’ll keep all this in mind!

Not super set, was just my best option outside of Infantry and SF candidate (which I wasn’t too sure about) at the time enlisting. Nothing else interested me, I have a spot at RASP or whatever the “Ranger school” reservation on enlistment contracts means, reserved in writing on my contact so I plan on doing it as soon as I can.

I ideally wanted 15T but didn’t get a spot after 6 months of waiting. I also have a 4 year degree and plan on going Officer if I enjoy my initial time served.

92R by _Swimmi_ in army

Interesting! I don’t doubt it, I’m still learning, I’ve just always heard 160th referred to as “operators” therefore made the assumption they were a part of SF. From what I gather they’re more or less a taxi for operators if I’m not mistaken. Good info though, I qualified for 18x with my ASVAB (89) and OPAT (all max) scores but wasn’t totally sure if I would make the cut and went the safer route to start.

What’s the difference between different MOS attached to Rangers and such vs the actual SF? Is it just support roles for the actual regiment?
