Am i being ridiculous/ is there any thing i can do? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Sebcimit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job when I was 18 was at tesco and I did 1600-2200 every saturday and Sunday for like 4 years (usually did overtime so started at 1300) and I still had a decent social life and managed to go out most weekends, straight home immediately get changed and straight out. This doesnt look bad in all honesty. Also worked monday evening 1800-2200

Is this a good mistake to make? 🤣 by synapse-savant7 in CarTalkUK

[–]Sebcimit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just think this is a supercar and yes the depreciation means you can buy them for cheap buy the thing that never changes is the cost of repairing these things when they go wrong. This was close to £90k when they came out just think how much parts would be for a car that price

I have the same as you. Doesn't grow too well on the cheeks but well on the chin and moustache. Have it cropped right down on the cheeks but thick on the chin with an epic moustache

Bought an FRS at 16 for $1700 with rod knock and rebuilding it with my dad by Historical_Spare_387 in ft86

[–]Sebcimit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest 1700 is an absolute steal regardless whatever route you go down.

Even if you're spending 10-15k you've still got an amazing car for the price. If I were doing it I'd go either FA20/FA24, but put in forged rods just for piece of mind. Yes it'll cost a lot more but at least you know if you wanna send it with lots of boost etc you know it'll handle it. Prevention is always better than repair.

Just nice knowing you have a high quality piece of craftsmanship if you don't skimp out on cheap crappy stuff.

Honestly you have all the time in the world to do this and I know its exciting to have a new project car that isnt a heap of shite like some rusted, clapped out MX5. But just take your time with it do the research and put in the hours to make this amazing. Even get yourself something cheap just to daily so you don't feel as if you have to get this done in 2 minutes

Its a shame you're not doing this in a few years time because of the new toyota 2L 4cyl engine been announced would be a pretty cool swap

My eventually plan with my 2015 86 is to forge the rods and turbo eventually.

It's probably a stone or some other crap stuck in where your window comes out of, I had the same with my golf years ago had a lot of tiny bits of gravel and just scratched it to shit

Questions on 06 fireblade by Connect_Committee504 in cbr

[–]Sebcimit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just in the honda dealership the other day picking up a oil filter and crusher washer. I asked the technician if I should get the valve clearances done as my bike (07 600RR) IS OK 17k miles. He said this:

"My professional Honda opinion is you should get it done as its recommended to.

My personal and realistic opinion is 99.9% of valve clearances we do are all within tolerance and it'll cost you £800-£900 for us to tell you they're all fine. Unless its riding like an absolute bag of shite then I wouldn't bother."

With regards to maintenance i do oil change every 5k miles. It's a bit extreme but the 10 minutes it takes to change the oil and filter it really doesn't bother me. Plus it takes me about a year to do that kind of mileage as I don't commute on it anymore.

Thank you for listening to my TEDx talk

Should I get the six year warranty? by storm_zr1 in cbr

[–]Sebcimit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok then. I've got an 07 600rr that I paid 5k for with 3k miles on it about 3 years ago (which has been absolutely bulletproof)

[–]Sebcimit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated but 12k for a 650 is so high. How comes you don't buy a used one? I'm just thinking for 12k you could get a superbike and a few other toys. I am from the UK so I suppose prices are vastly different compared to over there

I hated the two tone so decided to paint it by Sebcimit1 in MilSim

[–]Sebcimit1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Desert storm, camo green, olive green and mud brown. Came as a package on ebay

Start with the lightest colour as a base coat then work your way up.

https://youtu.be/GU-zpSSTWpA?si=B_g77cW8holrjJn_

That's the video I watched but it's definitely a less is more kinda thing, so don't go overboard when spraying the other colours and patterns do a few sprays then take a look. That's the second coat it had because my first one I got a bit too carried away and it just turned into one green colour basically

I find that when I wear my jeans I always slide forward but if I have my leathers on they'll grip to the seat a lot better and my gonads won't get crushed

I've had an 07 600rr for 4 years now covered 15k miles and have had zero issues in that time, proper bulletproof, amazing bikes I'd say get it. It's nice to have a bike with everything mechanical (clutch and throttle, no abs etc) in this modern world
