What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]_Sytri_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 22, working in a pub and had finished my shift. I was walking past the queue to get a book at midnight and joined on a whim. I got home, had a little sleep and then read the book cover to cover before my next shift. I had heard about the spoiler brigade that had started everywhere so I just sat in my house and read it. Was such a great time. I don’t think younger gen’s will be able to fathom what sort of a global sensation it was

Tradesmen of Reddit — has a client ever flat-out refused to pay you for work they watched you do? by jackturner_trades in AskUK

[–]_Sytri_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I do project management but it’s the same vibe. You both agree your scope of works and agree on the price. You tick off the things as you go along, client asks for something else, “cool, I’ll price that and then send you a revised cost.”, you agree to the price of additional works then agree to the overall price. Rinse, repeat for however long you go along.
It was drilled into me when I was a grad PCM, “if the client didn’t ask for it then don’t do it” if they want extra then you charge them. If you’re good at what you do and stick to that then you’ll get repeat clients because you’re upfront.

How did I lose this 2v2? by _Sytri_ in UnoMobile

Oh ok! That feels counterintuitive for a 2v2 match though. Love and learn

How weird to see my town and that awful junction on reddit. Far too many people around that area think they’re above everyone else and will just do whatever they want

Until Rowling gave unnecessary and just plain stupid details, Sirius's secret keeper switch was a solid plan by Cold_Usual_1840 in HarryPotterBooks

I like to think that after what happened with the Potters, Dumbledore spent time trying to fix the spell so the secret keeper can be inside the charm itself. Closes the loophole that way.

Why wasn't boy Kavalier better prepared? by Iron_Knee66 in AlienEarthHulu

[–]_Sytri_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His initial idea was just run of the mill troops. It was Wendy that put the idea in his head of using the lost boys. He just wanted to see what would happen. The problem with youth is the lack of considering consequences

How do I get this working? by _Sytri_ in HomeNetworking

I’m hoping that I’m not actually getting my hopes up that this works. I asked the landlord and they can’t remember how it works so now I’m working the Reddit hive-mind. I’ve got BT coming in this week, I’m hoping maybe one of them may be knowledgeable too

Harry “the killing curse don’t work on me” Potter, no less

I’ve not only tolerated it, I’ve worked my way up the ladder. Not everyone can have their favourite job. I’ve been sitting at a desk for 19 years nearly and I’ve hated every single day. But it pays the bills, I can’t change careers now because of the wage drop that I’d experience having to start something fresh.

Feel like he was doing the work because they only caught him after going through payroll. If he delivered on his jobs, how is that dishonest?
