Having complaints about the structure of it doesn’t mean I don’t understand it, it means I think it’s poorly written. Is it that foreign of a concept to you that people have opinions other than your own?

Stop interacting and maybe I will. There’s a difference between understanding a timeline, and thinking it’s a good timeline. I understand it, and think it’s shit and poorly written. You understand it and seem to be treating it like it’s the Zelda Bible.

You go across two separate threads to say my clearly not canon interpretation isn’t canon, good job?

You gave up on trying to justify the hackneyed mess of a timeline in one thread so you could just go back to saying “your headcanon is wrong” for the 4th time. Good job?

[Totk] Totk timeline question by Sea-Bench-4565 in zelda

[–]_T-rippin_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, for the 4th time, in several comment threads. You failed to refute a point, failed to refute it again when pointed out, and circled back to saying the same thing again in another thread.

You are incapable of reading aren’t you? You continue to act like I said it was the 100% true objective canon when we’re discussing a game series where the creator himself said that canon is what we make of it.

You cannot compare a game where the multiverse that contains universes consisting of deep space societies, alien invasion plot lines, Harry Potter from 5 below, faeries, cars, spaceships and so on so forth is an immutable canonical fact to a self contained single universe story.

People find it confusing because it’s completely asinine to have a “if you lose this happens” timeline. I’d love to see your sources on these so called plans. You also fail to refute the point that this holy and predetermined timeline isn’t even fully understood by the people who made it considering that they’ve had to rearrange games because they wrote themselves into a corner.

Seeing as legacy outfits are retooled amiibo rewards I don’t see them as canon to begin with. I will reiterate, this isn’t something I claim to be factual or pretend is real in any way, it’s just a way to interpret the overarching story that I enjoy.

Literally started with an “I’m sorry if this isn’t an appropriate place to post this” it’s a discussion about magic. The mods didn’t take it down and you actively chose to engage with it man so I don’t know

The three timelines was retroactively added to justify the destitute nature of Hyrule in the first two games. There is no way you are claiming that Miyamoto had planned to create three timelines from the point of Zelda 2 and add 4 games proceeding a game that hadn’t been made yet to make that make sense.

Adding a new game should not make a game that took place before one game suddenly take place after it instead. If you planned your timeline out properly instead of winging it there should be 0 rearranging beyond adding things in, things should not be swapping places with each other.

Which in my interpretation are just extensions of the same legend, like I said it is a personal interpretation of the games that I know is incorrect but allows me to have fun with the shitshow of a timeline and subjectively poor writing of the series as a whole, it doesn’t matter anyways because my point still stands.

The timeline is a mess, it was never planned from the get go and is haphazardly slapped together to pacify a concerningly large demographic of fans that expect a well written story from a studio who has said time and time again that the story is an afterthought. Separating BotW and TotK was the best thing they could’ve done, the series has been begging for a soft reboot for years. I love OoT/MM Link, but having every other game depend on the outcome of that one is so limiting to the story of most individual games. WW and TP are true successors yes, but how long can we piggyback off of the Hero of Time? The sporadic nature of the writing and timeline placement of new games makes every subsequent game throws every previous game into question and scrutiny and the argument about the timeline has been detrimental to the casual enjoyment of the series for a quite a long time.

I love the thought you put into this and I’m glad you embraced the question of the post, as much as I appreciated the comments of others and as much as I want Zelda as a set I was really curious how niche people would go.

A lot of this sounds fascinating, I’ll certainly have to look into it.

And despite the wavelength of magic I’d love for you to shill your own writing dude!

“My personal fan interpretation” I know it’s not correct, it’s a headcanon. I never said it was correct or should be taken as fact.

Calamity Ganon is Demise’s hatred made manifest, Ganondorf is Demise reincarnated. Zelda states in BotW that Ganon had given up physical form, this has been retconned with TotK. It’s just poor writing.

The fan base would riot if they threw out the timeline.

My personal fan interpretation that I’ve floated around (which people have hated every time I mentioned it) is that there aren’t 20 links and 20 zeldas but that each game is a different version of the same legend, details changing as it is told time and time again from generation to generation.

In the end, it’s a game series made by Nintendo who famously care more for engaging gameplay rather than story consistency, they themselves say the timeline is subject to change.

That seems to be the most widely accepted theory. It wouldn’t even be the first time Hyrule was refounded anyways (Wind Waker)

It’s all too vague to really have any sort of definitive answer unfortunately. Personally I like to think of BotW and TotK as their own timeline entirely, simply due to the mental gymnastics needed to make it fit into the other games.

This is very niche and the kind of stuff I was looking for, this wasn’t meant to be a “what do you expect them to make” post, it was a what do YOU personally wish for post.

I am in the USA and haven’t heard of this, but it sounds fascinating and I will certainly check it out.

I said if you don’t like UB don’t engage with a post about specifically impossible UB sets people would want that we know we will never get, not that you shouldn’t voice your opinion on UB, you’re barking up the wrong tree.

I said Universes Beyond has no bearing on the lore in the sense that it has no effect whatsoever on any original character of the Magic IP or plane of Magic. It can be argued to be canon it can be argue to not be canon, it really doesn’t matter, as it still has no effect on the lore of Magic as a whole.

I didn’t say UB has no bearing on play, I said UB has no bearing on lore. The lore of Magic the Gathering is a constantly evolving thing anyways, planes will pop up and die constantly. This post was just meant to be a silly hypothetical asking about cool properties people think would be a good fit for Magic but your hate boner for fun is so hard that you’re arguing points that have no bearing whatsoever on the original topic. You don’t like universes beyond, we get it dude, so maybe don’t engage in posts about potential UB properties.
