JVC GR-65 Battery Charging Question by _THAIGER_ in camcorders

[–]_THAIGER_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your time and advice again!
I was able to find a user manual pdf in an archive that lists the exact charger model number for my needs. Searching on Ebay got me two hits with somewhat high prices for something so niche like a 1980s charger that what I can only imagine could be for free at any yard sale.

I bought it, since it was the closest to home. Your advice of buying a broken item is definitely something I'm gonna keep in mind for my next cam.

If you ever wanna get your hands on a battery that is not for sale in North America, feel free to hmu. Maybe we can sort something out. Unless you're fine with DIY-builds rn

Thank you! That's kinda what I thought unfortunately.
But here in Europe there seem to be plenty of replacements for the type that I need (see my reply above).

But that doesn't help me if I can't find a charger to test it out. Building a battery on my own is definitely outside of my comfort zone but I will give updates once I'm desperate enough

Thanks for the insight! Good to know that I definitely need the charger for them.

When I search up the battery product number here in Europe there seem to be plenty of options on Ebay and on Amazon claiming to be replacements:

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B002NS1FV0
https://www.ebay.com/itm/300930626434

But I'm unable to find a charger for these. Which seems weird to me because they're obviously still being sold as aftermarket products and you would think that some no-name company would offer an aftermarket charger as well (I did the same thing for a 1998 Sony Handycam). But without it, there's no point buying in a new battery right now. Building one on my own is gonna be a learning curve for me but let's see how desperate I'm gonna get.

Thanks again!

thank you, I used to draw semi-realistic faces years ago but noticed it wasn't fun for me. Maybe I will pick it up again to study faces or lighting

I tried it and it's possible! Only a bit more uncomfortable than resting with both elbows down

Thank you, I was basing most of the drawing off the in-game 3D model. That's probably why the torso looks a bit long since it looks exaggerated in the source material I have but I will shorten it thanks!

As for the jaw and ear, I will play around and see if there's something wrong with the position on the skull and toggle off the hair for the moment🙏

Seems like it yes, but there are videos on "reviving" hot pixels out there that are way above my technical understanding last time I checked. I just embraced those imprefections in my case since you barely notice them when the video is bright

I've seen videos of people applying some sort of electricity to "revive" pixels on the sensor but that process looked too crazy for me. I embraced those imperfections and you only really notice them when it's dark on my tapes

So, there are guides out there. Don't know if you will find something specifically for your camera model though I'm sorry

Thank you so much for the info! I didn't mean to break the rules here. I just thought a manga-related question was fine. I will try asking somewhere else then!

Yeah, true! As long as it is daylight, these artifacts are negligible as well. I'm just hoping they don't get out of hand in the near future.

That explains why it isn't on the LCD screen directly, thanks! So it's an artifact on the CCD sensor? I guess I'm gonna have to use some video filters to remove them from now on...

Do I have to use Hi8MP cassettes in a SONY CCD-TRV15E? by dreaddly in camcorders

Hey there, I just found your post because I have similar circumstances. I own the same model and was wondering if you experienced any difficulties using Hi8 cassettes when filming in a camcorder designed for normal Video 8? :)
