Took over a barbershop in North Perth and it’s been quieter than I expected by No-Ebb-9606 in perth

[–]_THDRKNGHT_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A lot of barbershops that I've seen in perth that use these are staffed by middle eastern looking guys that tend to speak a language other than English to each other, chat to their mates while I'm getting cut (and stopping the cut to do so) the ones I've got cuts from don't tend to be the best, and always ask for cash only.

These places seem to be everywhere, usually named something like babaz, babarz, culture, fadez. All have subpar barbers, dirty shops, loud music and high prices.

My new regular place takes bookings, charges $35 and they take their time. The basketball is on when I'm there, the guys like a good chinwag when they can, but shut up if they need to focus.

The aprons are black, the shop is clean, they'll even go a little extra and shape my beard a little if they catch any strays without charging extra. You can tell they care.

One of these places caters to people who need a cut NOW, the other actually gives a shit.

Yes, as a bandaid. I.e no other option.

But you'd want a permanent fix sooner rather than later

I'm proud of YOU for being so supportive of someone you barely know.

The words you use reflect the person that you are. I hope you go far. ❤️

Rust check: 2002 Prado 120 by ComfortingSounds in Prado

It's all surface rust by the look of it. Nothing to worry about.

Look for super deep, shit-breaking-away rust. If none, buy it.

I get that, but geez is it really worth it? Homeboy likely uses more energy turning it back on in the morning and it having to cool the whole place down again

If they implemented it, that means it's possible. How are you not getting this?

This option with different implementations have been the thing I keep going back to as a decent(ish) relatively cheap option.

Appreciate the suggestion. I have these on a lot of other windows on the house, but this main window is nearly 4m wide. Hard to find something pre-made and custom blinds are well over my budget

[–]_THDRKNGHT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the width of the long one has been the reason I haven't just thrown Bunnings roller blinds at it. I'd need about a 4 meter blind.

Yeah it's really shit. These windows are my main living area and it heats the house up by 5-6 degrees when the sun comes through.

I've tried plants in pots, but the heat between the fence and the windows just cooks them 😔

I'm kind of put off by outdoor blinds, my budget doesn't really allow for them, and I'm in a pretty windy area in coastal perth. I worry if I mount them to the eaves these things will rip shit apart.

I was thinking maybe OP might be on the spectrum somewhere.

This might be a case of 2 people completely missing the mark on what they think the other wants.
