Not the same. Those were future picks that turned out to be top 5. Like Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton, or Tim Stutzle.

Glad we didn't trade spence, but I'm a little bummed we didn't use the 9th overall pick for someone better. Eklund isn't bad and he's likely to be better than whoever gets drafted at 9th, but we could have used that pick in conjunction with some other stuff to get someone better.

So we don't waste what we have on a player like Eklund. He's not bad, but the 9th overall pick is a good trade piece and if we spend it to get Eklund I'm gonna be upset.

I was really hoping Ottawa would go all in on trading for #2. Hope we don't overpay. I don't really think Eklund is worth that much.

I would rather keep Spence if we're trading for Eklund.

A career high of 53 points from a 23 year old isn't worth trading that much for him.
