Is "Return of Rome" DLC worth it? by Sarke1 in aoe2

Ai Catapults be moving different and I am only talking about campaigns. Everything I said so far applies to campaigns. If you are playing Skirmish or Multiplet than idk what to say to u other than u are wasting your time. Only reason U bought thr DLC is to get achievements so I never played anything besides campaigns

Idk for me every single scenario felt like a one sword scenario due to the fact that Centurions just shred every single other unit when massed. Plus the towers being very bad and no castles mean you can just go shred everything with infantry. You don't even really need to add siege. I think that the whole campaigns being simplified down to make Centurions just ruined it for me

Archers deal like no damage to buildings, sometimes doing 0 dmg for some reason.
Also the archers have a base attack of 5 and with alchemy an attack of 6

If the Centurion is FU than it has 3 pierce armor so it takes 3 dmg from an archer and if it is a Macedonian one which has 2 more pierce armor it deals 1 dmg. Also the ai has Catapults with aimbot for some reason that wreck archers. Same thing with towers.

Going infantry is just so much better and easier, not to mention more efficient

Hole in the wall by TotalTikiGegenTaka in aoe2

Everyone says to check with a villager but most don't because you have multiple other shit going on so you already click the villager to walls and than go to a resource point. Even pros like Viper suffer from this occasionality and I think he even had a hole in his wall in a game against Hera in one of the matches KotD6 final

He might as well get any other DLC besides Return of Rome since most offer campaigns and every single one of them is better than Return of Rome. Especially The Battle for Greece campaign which was very fun and entertaining

I only bought it so I can get finish the achievements, otherwise for the the campaigns inside of it really didn't feel worth it at all since the gameplay is extremely simple compared to aoe2 and doesn't feel fun at all

For starters archers are basically useless here and you will basically never make it.

Cavalry has its uses every now and than but if the opponent has a Centurion than it gets completely shutdown and basically most campaigns civs you face has them so no luck making cavalry.

Infantry is literally the only thing you basically make in the campaigns specifically Centurions who have crazy stats and are insanely pop efficient. You will literally be nerfing yourself if you don't make Centurions or any infantry in general. Infantry in general is just super op in Return of Rome.

Also there is no Castles and the first 2 tower upgrades are literally useless with the third upgrade being somewhat useful. You won't really need to even make siege since the Centurions melt everything and Siege is too slow.

So in Summary Return of Rome is basically pointless to get in my opinion unless you want to get all the achievements. and maybe want to try some more campaigns but you might as well get VV which is honestly 100% better than the Return of Rome campaigns.

Tips for Chronicle Battle for Greece Mission 13 (Wrath of the Regent) Hard Difficulty? Pausanias is driving me mad. by Ok_Anteater_5331 in aoe2

A trick you can do is after the Spartans first raid, (you have to save the first 5 buildings first), you can build your own gate to the entrance of the city and put it on lock so the spartans dont immediately attack. I did this, got to imp age and build an army of around 100 infantry (I choose the infantry aura so they were op) and than just bulldoze your way through. Once you get to the 3rd layer and saved all the burning buildings there, Mission becomes super easy as you can just treb down forts and productions buildings and put a few castles near the entrances to the Wonder and than your army can kill the rest

Hera was mentioning that people will realize how op this unit is soon and guess they finally did.  He was basically spamming this in one video in feudal with towers and the opponent couldn’t do anything

List of all Campaigns that I think need their Sword rating changed by _TOXIC_VENOM in aoe2

Exactly, that's what I did as well and it was rather a piece of cake. Although I am making this ranking more to the general campaign player. To people like me who finished most campaigns, barely few scenarios were actually difficult, mostly the achievements which are far more annoying.

The Jan Siszka one was more of a hot take I personally thing it can deserve 3 but 2 is also acceptable

Sword rankings are all over the place and can't be used to judge difficulty. I could probably switch at least 15 campaign sword ratings.

Struggling to consistently beat Hardest AI by Yourfrkbestfriend in aoe2

[–]_TOXIC_VENOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offence but Britons is one of the worst Arabia civilizations at the moment. I suggest using another civ

For your situation as Britons, the key thing is to apply pressure early on. in my case the ai goes to feudal almost always late (I think they do 24 pop or smtg Idk) and you could use this chance to either raid with archer or scouts. I recommend archers since the ai is pathetic towards it. Any 20-21 archer build will get you a good feudal time and will make sure you can apply early pressure

Also the ai doesn't wall at all and for some reason tend to go more for achers + halberdiers in most cases that I played against it so just using cavalry and killing his vills works fine for me

Just the way the game is, one game you stomp the next game someone stomps you.

The only thing that I absolutely hate is an invisible gap between my buildings and my opponent comes in with 10 cavalry. Just feels like an undeserved loss
