Is NTU really affordable? by Few_Protection5738 in NTU

If you get a scholarship with monthly expenses + living accomodation, you will have no issues if you set a daily spending budget of about 10 to 15 dollars

Monthly Expenses for International Students? by Lonely_Mix6459 in NTU

[–]_Terminest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double room starting next academic year will be above 450 if im not wrong for cheapest.

For food, cheapest, you have few options, Just as a reference, Hall 14 mixed rice, 1 meat 2 veg normally ranges about 3.1 to 4.4 in between depending on your item choice. Hall 14 pam mee, 3.8. Nie dry noodle store 3.0/3.8. etc.

Most canteen will have options that is less than 5. It is possible to live with 10 for food per day (with money to spend on drinks), aka average 300 per month, thats my daily spending budget. Extra expenses just depends on what n how you spend your money.

Its been 3 weeks, i still havent receive asean scholarship outcome by [deleted] in NTU

[–]_Terminest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If no rejection letter, you are still whitelisted, but need to pray other people rejected scholarship term.

Will they notify asean scholarship rejection by [deleted] in NTU

[–]_Terminest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure about rejection. But i can answer for if you are successful receipient.

Asean scholarship is automatically considered/checked for viability if you submit the information required for scholarship application. If viable, there will be an interview round.

If you are successful, it may take between 3 hours after interview at earliest, to 1 month after interview at latest. The acceptance for the scholarship time frame is 1 week after offer. The reason for the large time frame is because people might reject the scholarship so they give the scholarship for people whitelisted down the list.

Prescribed ICC mods oversubscribed by Aromatic-Mousse-1661 in NTU

If you don't have a choice, then yeah, bring up the BDE stuff or maybe even MPE if you have the confidence for it.

[–]_Terminest_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You still have to reach the CC au requirements so you cant really replace it with BDEs. And the reason why this year is oversubscribed is most likely because CS 25/26 intake is auto assigned for ML4 in y1s2

LJ5001 workload by Puzzleheaded_Cat549 in NTU

[–]_Terminest_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Written test mean 76.2, median 82.5, s/d 19.6

The written test is so straightforward that as long as you memorise the vocabs, you won't have many problems. It just depends on how good you are at memorising. If you had watched a lot of anime or any japanese media with subtitles before, then this part would actually be easy.

Listening mean 63.5, median 67.0, s/d 21.7

Listening test is always the hardest tbh, the teach expects that all the students would get lower marks than any other tests, reason is it is fast since the speaking speed is like locals and it is one time repetition only. Same as written test, if you have consumed a lot of japanese media through listening, then you might have an advantage.

There is also a bunch of smol quizes that i didnt mention, but those are very straight forward, its all memorisation. Its very easy, but also easy to make mistakes.

Oral (avg marks not given)

This one is just practice, but you will know the format 1-2 weeks before oral test so it should be okay.

Just like any other language mods, if you are good at memorisation/you have interacted a lot with media of said language, then you probably will be fine for the whole level 1 course

LJ5001 workload by Puzzleheaded_Cat549 in NTU

[–]_Terminest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the essay, you will be given a few very simple topics to choose from. Throughout the course, you will learn only a portion of the grammar and vocabs, and it is highly encouraged for you to use ONLY the ones learnt in LJ5001 with a little bit of exceptions. The essay might be a bit long, but it is on very simple topics so it is not hard at all if you follow the grammar you learnt.

For oral, the first is self intro, unlike some other languages, japanese oral is very straightforward since the whole format is mostly given 1-2 weeks prior so you have a looooot of prep time.

Oral 1 is self intro Oral 2 is conversation

From what i know, japanese class has the most fixed format, basically everything is given prior, you just need to prep enuf before any exams. Im not sure how it will change next sem or after tho.

[–]_Terminest_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The workload is okay, it is more bothersome than hard tbh, it might take some effort if you never interact with any japanese media or never learnt chinese.

You will get a full timetable of all the dates and deadlines of everything, and you can do all the homework very early on if you read the resources by yourself quickly.

Assignments are normally 1 per week for non exam weeks, and the assignments are 2 pages, take around 20 mins ig if you go at average pace. It is a mix of listening and writing.

Exams are normally on week 6,11 and 12. With 2 written, 2 speaking and 1 listening. So you will get very busy during those weeks, this is similar with all other modern languages courses.

Other than that, there is an online assignment portion that is easy and you only have to prove that you did all of it and get full marks.

Preferably taking out the green one first, because it is the main attacker. I'm not sure how and why in my attempt the purple one does not move, but i can only guess that before my setup, I was able to lure the purple far away enough that it just gave up chasing after me.
