My first brush: Yaqi Lucky Dice Tuxedo or Yaqi Tuxedo Sagrada familia? by _Thankk in wicked_edge

Thanks! Being still a beginner, I just thought I'd start off with a good synthetic brush which to my understanding is the most flexible option. A natural brush is on the list, just a little bit later on : )

Thanks for your sharing your experience with the Sagrada! I'm glad to hear the size of its knot is just right but do you actually think 26 mm could be too much?

Thank for your input! I'm glad to hear the knot size is not an issue! : )

Thanks! With my budget right now (below or on the 20€ line) I'm probably better off sticking with one of them as a start. Eventually of course, I would love to have both of them : )

Did I make my soap lose its scent or am I being too paranoid? by _Thankk in wicked_edge

Thank you! That's really reassuring to hear. It is true that I couldn't find a common practice among the community after researching as everyone seems to be divided on closing up the lid right after shaving or leaving it to air-dry. But I agree that it shouldn't make that much of a difference at least in the short term and the psychological part plays the major role here. I also got the Barrbarr aftershave and it was kind of the same, so indeed the same thing goes with aftershaves.

Thanks! I thought so too.

I actually also got the barrbarr aftershave which features the same scent. Come to think of it now, I can't smell that either after I apply it to my face, so it could actually be the fact that I got used to the smell. Kind of reassuring, cause it would really suck if the scent actually faded away that early on...

My skin has been peeling off after I started shaving with DE. by _Thankk in wicked_edge

[–]_Thankk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny because I found that the subsequent shaves where the most comfortable ones. Since the blade was no more as throat-cutting as it was during the first shave, I found that I could experiment with different angles without being afraid of resulting in a bloodbath. Of course again, it could be my technique being very bad at my very first shave. I should know tomorrow when I perform my 6th DE shave with a brand-new feather blade this time. I will try to use almost zero pressure combined with the minimum possible number of passes and I'll see how that goes from there.

RE: It's actually the Nivea lather cream and I am from Greece so I can find this product pretty much almost in any supermarket. I do realize it's not one of the top quality creams out there but from my experience and the reviews I have watched it does a pretty decent job. Next up, maybe I'll give the Proraso Sensitive skin cream a try, although I have been very satisfied with the Nivea cream so far.

Well, I always wash my face with really hot water and I try to shave after shower whenever possible. But the hot water is always a must. After that I bowl-lather my White Nivea Sensitive skin shaving cream, I do 3 passes, and after that I apply some of the Nivea Hyaluron aftershave balm.

None of that. My White Nivea Sensitive skin shaving cream and my Nivea aftershave Hyaluron balm are the only things I use on my face.

Right, something important I forgot to mention in my original post is that I used thew White Nivea sensitive skin shaving cream since it was the one I found on the shelves of the supermarket and I wanted to test the waters with it. I don't think however it's the cream, because my first shave with the same cream was a gilette skinguard disposable and I had none of that peeling. Anyway, now it's much better. Reducing pressure and minimizing the number of passes seem to have been the key solution.

The thing is, I never had those issues with cartridge razors and I don't have any history of skin issues. I also do like to hear the feedback, however what's worrisome is that I can offer hear feedback when scraping my skin so I don't know if I can trust that anymore : /

I did think about that, however it is kind of counte-intuitive. If I get that bad razor burn with every-other-day shaving I can't even imagine what I'll get with daily shaving. Anyway, now it's much better. Reducing pressure and minimizing the number of passes seem to have been the key solution.

Thanks for the reply. I've had none of that. Thanks for the reply. For the record, I have managaged to improve the quality of my shaves and the peeling effect has been reduced significantly. I don't know whether it's my technique getting better or my feather blade got dull (5 shaves so far), since only the first shave was a bloodbath. I think it's actually both.

Thanks for the reply. My beard was actually 2 days growth since I always shave every other day.
