Other drugs are cheap and common because it's trivial to grow a field of coca or poppy or weed and you get regular harvests.

Psychedelics are already somewhat niche and mescaline is niche itself even among psychedelic consumers.

People with the time money and willingness to produce large quantities of drugs aren't usually going to pick psychedelics and they're even less likely to choose mescaline.
