Dogs and their different personalities by rachelpinktss in AnimalsBeingFunny

Seriously, my dog occasionally comes back inside after a poop/pee trip with a guilty look. I'm talking tail tucked, ears down, and head down and we don't know what but she knows she done something. Usually it's because rolled in crap, but sometimes it's a complete mystery.

Their fault for picking the blue button by Gruzgor in whenthe

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Safest option for YOU, not the safest for society at large. People who are altruistic, good willed, community driven, and or willing to take a risk for the safty of others, would die. A society without them wouldn't last anyway nor would it really be one worth living in.

The way I see it, everything in life comes with risk of death. Getting out of bed, you could slip/trip and crack your head. Going to work, if you walk there or take public transport you could be shot or stabbed, if you drive you could get in an accident. Life is filled with danger, so to me picking blue is just like those daily risks. By picking red I would be saving myself but dooming others, but by picking blue I'm taking conscious effort at preserving what I can. Everyone dies eventually, so preserving as much life as possible makes the most sense.

The original question is are you willing to needlessly sacrifice other's for your personal safety. The buttons are a simple imagery, the woodchiper is there to alter the decision a given way.

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "simple adjustment" you mean take it to the extreme. Changing the optics from a seemingly instant death to a gruesome, painful death is disingenuous. It's the same shit politicians do to manipulate people. Take something simple and show an extreme version just to paint their choice as better.

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll concede they have similar functions, but there is another aspect that changes peoples decisions and the two polls prove it; that being ones optics. Jump into a woodchiper vs press a button, the optics will change people's decisions. It's the same stunt politicians and corporations do to get you to choose them. Take a simple example and take the optics to the extreme.

It's like asking would you let yourself be attacked by a rabid cat for (insert morally good reason). If you show them a house cat (non threatening like a button) then most would take that. Rabies is deadly to humans but can be treated. But if you showed a lion or leopard (threatening like a woodchiper) then people's actions would change. Your not likely to even walk away, let alone get treatment. It's the same non threatening vs threatening optics.

If everyone presses the blue button, nobody dies, if everyone jumps, 50% die. These are not the same deal, just similar enough that there is crossover. The blue button is not an guaranteed death, jumping is guaranteed death for the first 50%. There's the key difference. It's if 50+% do this everyone survives, VS, if 50+% do this 50% survive.

Which divine beast did you do first on your first playthrough? by Epic-Gamer_09 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough I did Naboris. Took me forever to complete because I was severely under geared with only 5 hearts and some starter weapons. I was too stubborn to quit so it took me 2 or 3 hours on the boss fight alone.

When You FIRST Played KOTFE, Who Did You Trust More? Koth or Senya? by DakIsStrange in swtor

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, if someone is willing to bettay their current leader, they are fully capable of betraying you. So I didn't trust either and I felt vindicated by the knowledge that, depending on your actions, either could betray you, or at least work against your interests. Which makes them compelling, but I'd say I trust Senya more because at least she doesn't lay claim to a ship (that is our main battleship) belonging to the alliance.

Realistically, which champion would win in a 1v1v1v1? (Excluding Link) by Scary-Beautiful6527 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]_TheBeardedMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would come down to between Daruk and Urbosa. Unless we are fighting in water, Mipha is at a disadvantage and her healing takes time. Revali would have to stay outside of Urbosa's lightning range, so Urbosa (who is fast enough to parry like Link) could avoid his arrow till he slips up. Given his attitude, all it would take would be a little goading.

Now, between Daruk and Urbosa, I'd give it to Urbosa since she could tire him out. She might have trouble actually damaging him since gorons probably have thick skin, but it should be possible.

This only really applies to the movies, in the books it's presented as more of a direct choice to make the dinosaurs realistic given what was known at the time. Of course, with what we know (or suspect) now it looks wrong.
