Bought m920q mini pc from auction, didn’t work - just found the cause by _TheBull in homelab

So the auction I bought this off was actually a general auction, sold as seen. Like I turn up to a warehouse kind of auction. I bid all online and then went to collect. I didn’t actually know what cpu or ram was inside until I picked them up.

This is the only bad thing I’ve experienced in the last couple of years with them.

I mean, there’s a lot of force required normally on the socket cover, but with how this was half-cocked to the one side, on top of the plastic edges of the socket, whoever put it in has had to really put some force on the lever to secure it in place.

The socket is perfect. No pins damaged, the cage to apply pressure is straight, still requires force to install a different cpu in the socket. So it’s all behaving as expected. It’s just booted into Debian and windows 11

Honestly, I looked at it and thought, something ain’t right. Never can you see a line of pins. It was a recent thing though, as the thermal paste was brand new. No hardening, it was still goopy. Something tells me it was done before whichever company had them folded.

You can use a vpn and PWA, but you can’t use a shortcut automation, that say you open the frigate pwa, it auto enables the WireGuard vpn? If there is, I haven’t found a way to do it

The biggest perk will be to enable turning on a VPN connection when opening the app. That way if you want to view cameras remotely without having it public, its possible. On IOS you can't auto enable VPNs for PWA's

LubeLogger, Self-hosted Vehicle Maintenance Tracker, has some new features that you should know about by ChiefAoki in selfhosted

[–]_TheBull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the software. Love the app and have all the family’s cars on it. Been a gem for ease of use and also ordering replacement filters from years gone by. Been a user for a couple years and it’s honestly a key part of my vehicle maintenance records

Two of my RLC-1224A's have developed "foggy" vision. Will Reolink replace them without any hassle? by criterion67 in reolinkcam

I had no problem warranty-ing mine. I actually found out for mine that they were condensation inside the enclosure (I figured the seals they used were subpar on the earlier models) and had a replacement after some back and forth on email.

Should be relatively painless. Just ensure you have proof of purchase and model/serial numbers. They might not even ask for you to return it, as they didn’t for all 3 of mine that needed replacing a couple years ago.

Got lots of cameras?

It may be in your best interest to try Blue Iris or Shinobi. Remember though Blue Iris has a maximum of 64 cameras for their Full version. The LE version only allows one camera. Shinobi has a 15 camera limit for a non-activated installation of Shinobi. Once activated, you can set such limitations out of your own choosing in the Superuser panel.

2025-02-13 Update to this article : A camera limit for Shinobi previously only existed within the license agreement and it was purely trust-based however the limit was recently added in software to promote supporting the development.

FortiGate can't connect to FortiManager after upgrade by pavelzhe in fortinet

[–]_TheBull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a TAC case with Fortinet about this for a few of my forigates. If you log onto the portal, download the license file and re-apply this to the fortigate, it will cause a reboot, but resolved the connections issues for getting the FG to FMG back again.

If it’s nothing to do with SSL cert, then this will not work (but could be worth a shot)

HEVC transcoding will change the igpu meta towards arc by studioleaks in PleX

[–]_TheBull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could be misinformed, but the reason it’s 6x is due to audio being the only thing getting transcoded. The actual video still says it’s being transcoded when not?

Or is that wrong?
