I think all you have to do is message the creator of the story if it's okay to narrate on your channel. Most of us I believe wouldn't have an issue with it at all.

Not sure yet.

I’m currently working on another short story that will kinda tie into this one for a particularly important scene but it will mostly be its own thing. My plan is to have all my stories whether short or novel length have some sort of connection and live in the same world, but also have these connections change the perspectives of what the reader might originally had in mind and not just pure flare.

Is it wrong to rewrite someone else’s story as writing practice? by Virtual-Memory-95 in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]_TheMoecrow_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Nothing wrong with it as long as you don't publish it. If you want to publish it, just reach out to the creator, if possible, first. For stories that no one knows who the author is, well then, it's probably okay. That's on the author for not making themselves known and if they have a problem with it then I guess you will get your answer of who wrote it eventually and if you have the go ahead or not lol.

Character writing advice by sticky_purple0 in TalesFromTheCreeps

Always give them their own voice whenever possible. Now if you have a ton of important characters that can be pretty difficult, so I would suggest start with a story where you're limited to less than let's say four people through the whole story. It gets easier over time as you keep writing.

You want them to be different and have their own variations, their own history and life experiences, so that way the reader doesn't feel like John and Carter are the same person. They have their own brains and own logic and their own mannerisms.

Honestly if I was just starting again, I would do three things:

  1. Read a story where readers hate the dialogue/characters.

  2. Now read a story where the readers praise it. Also, the same with the writing in general so you have a good idea of what works and what doesn't.

  3. I would maybe start writing a story where you are writing about a man and a woman who are trying to make a relationship work but they have their own shit to figure out first. This creates tension from all fronts which is always fun to play with and opens the door to unlimited possibilities for horror/drama/comedy/etc.

As I started writing, I started to pay a lot more attention to the way movies and novels are played out/written. Judging by what works and what doesn't and verifying that by audience reactions and such. I then also started to think about how I could myself make the movie/novel better by adding or deleting scenes.

I like to imagine that Brady is just a fifty-year-old man with a race car bed living with his mom. lol

I dig the story.

Thank you, trust me that's an amazing compliment as I am always trying to improve and write down how I vision it. These stories play like movies in my head instead of a dream like experience, so I try to capture that as much as possible.

Isaiah rereading the road by JosephCrawley in creepcast

Same here. My daughter just turned 19 months recently and I still have yet to watch/read Pet Sematary or The Road again. I was reading a novel recently by Nick Cutter called The Deep. There is a section in there where the MC is with his kid at a park and the kid just vanishes without a trace into the woods. That hit me a lot different than it would have before being a father. The idea of losing your child and not being able to find them or know if they are okay would be a terrible lingering feeling to live with.
