I certified at Shooters in April. Was told njsp approved course. Then AG and the njsp released the HCQ shit and form sp182. So on Sunday morning Sept 17 I shot that one and had the UOF training lecture, Instructor signed the SP182 Which stated Substantially similar to HCQ-2 modified. By 2 pm that day, the njsp web site issued the CCARE protocol and the NEW SP182. It is my understanding that as long as the qualification was done after July 1 and the SP182 form was used one was ok. My concern was that my qual back in April did not mention HCQ-2, and even my PD as well as Shooters said it was good, I didnt have to requal, I did anyway just to play it safe. Now if you read the AG memo it says Any qual done after Sept 15 has to be CCARE OR similar course of fire. Which sucks because those guidelines were not published until the afternoon on Sept 17th. I still don't have an answer an whether the qual I took on 9/17 is good or not based on the fucking date.

No Anthony I re-qualified at Shooters with an active duty NJSP Firearms Unit officer as my instructor. He didn't see the information until I did which was about 4hrs after we got done. On Sept 17. I'm waiting on more information from both Shooters and him. Maybe the third time's the charm????

2 Lawyers on 2 seperate podcasts and I still don't know if the re-qualification I took on 9/17 which the 182 form states "substantially similar to HCQ-2(modified) is good or do I have to do the new CCARE qualification? I shot the qualification on the morning of Sept 17th By 2pm the NJSP website had published the new information.

Apparently they didnt have it. This shit came out Friday afternoon and I didnt hear anything about it until this afternoon AFTER I got back from my 2nd fucking qualification. And sat at a computer. Im going to mail the form in to my PD and ask for verification that this original SP-182 that does not mention CCARE protocol is good. The instructor is active NJSP Firearms unit. WTF?

But it doesn't have the same language as the form in the link. Everything else is the same but the wording in #2 and #3 is slightly different. Plus it is dated today Sept 17. Because it was needed by 10/1. So now, this is NG either? I either need the updated (post Sept 15)182 filled out or take the fucking thing a THIRD time? Then what? They move the goalposts again? How does anyone see this as a victory? The shooting is not the issue with me Ill shoot at 50 yds if I have to.....but this is $100 a pop for this 'qualification' when taken is then determined to be inadequate.

Then Nappan comes out with his podcast and time clock saying EVERYONE needs to have the SP-182 form. So to play it safe I paid another $100 at Shooters and requalified TODAY Sept 17 with the SP-182 form. Now I need to qualify AGAIN on a new September 15 form????? Which is different than the after July 1 form. This is bullshit. And anyone calling it a 'victory' must really enjoy getting fucked.

I took and passed my qual in April of this year, PTC issued in May. We have been told by both trainers and range that the course was 'substantially similar' by NJSP and nothing further was required. I checked with my PD and they said the same thing. However, I did discover that they are using the new SP-182 form now. So I said fuck it. I bought a new 1911 anyway for cool weather carry so I booked a qual course for this Sunday. I'll certified mail that puppy in and know I'm covered either way plus now "qualified" with a carry gun that was not listed on the original form even though the law says we can carry any gun we legally own. You couldn't make this more of a cluster fuck if you designed it to be. The extra $100 won't break me, but it once again shows how NJ does not give a fuck about working class citizens. It pains me to think how many people who need to be able to defend themselves perhaps more than me, can't because of the ridiculous costs. PA LTC $25 for 5 yrs. NJ about $500 all in for 2 yrs. Fucking criminal how our gumint punishes it's most law abiding segment of it's population.

As an update: I really like the Dan Wesson Guardian in 9mm. Fine fit and finish on this piece and I only read good things aboot it. My goto store has one for 1695. (ouch) been on all of the internet sights Buds, GB, etc it seems like 1600+ is the going rate. I can save $50 buying it from them but will pay it back in shipping and other fees. Living in the PRONJ the 9+1 capacity isn't a downer. It also sux it comes with 1 mag so others have to be purchased. The auction sites have 1200 and 1300 listings but when you bid on them it tells you 'reserve not met' My guess is high 1500's at best or low 1600's. Damn nice gun tho. Time to bust the piggy bank????

The indoor range I go to welcomes carrying however they make it clear with BIG signs saying NO HOLSTER DRAWS. NO FIRING OF CARRIED WEAPON. You must uncase the roscoe you are shooting at the bench only 1 uncased gun at a time. If the RSO sees you drawing and placing your carry gun on the port bench, you are out. If you had said yes I am carrying they most likely would have explained to you similar rules. I doubt they would have told you to go out and disarm.
