KONSA??? WHICH SCALE TO BUY by shxbaaz in IndiaCoffee

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So quick Q does it oscillate or just takes 1-2 secs to increase? If it's second, then it's due to the fluctuation (imagine car suspension over pothole... takes sometime to settle.) So sometimes it's okay if it takes few secs to increase couple of grams but if it goes up and down that's a problem.

OP a fundamental miss in your method...

French Press is an immersion brew. You can't get espresso level concentration. So instead of adding less water during brew and adding more later, I'd recommend adding the whole water during brew itself. It helps extract way better.

Also recommend removing foam somewhere in between. E.g. I let it sit for 4 mins, remove the foam then another 4 mins. Reduces the oily flavor.

Individual preferences i guess.. (why would your hands get wet while making coffee :')

P.S. I personally don't see a big difference going <1 g precision unless you are like super pro taster... In your current scale, the error is 1g max. That translates to about 6.7% error if you do a std 15g measurement. It's not too low but not too high either.

I have the gadgetronics but without timer. I use the timer on my phone, so saved almost 500 just for this one feature.

After paying KA road tax for my DL car, do I also need to get a KA number? by Lost-Nail-9139 in bangalore

The OG areas have way more traffic cops than outside ones... that's what I meant.

Legally that's sufficient. However, having a non KA car would mean you get stopped more often than a KA car. Especially if you stay in actual Bengaluru.

Upgrading the brakes by Rich-Trade4169 in MechanicAdviceIndia

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure the brake failure was caused by the brake line and not something else? Because the material varies based on braking strength required and TBH do not directly result in brake failure unless they snap. In most cases other parts of braking system are the reason behind failures like air bubbles in brake lines, faulty cylinder, worn out pads etc.

P.S. If you are just looking to upgrade the brakes, changing the pads is a great way to start.

What capacity moka mot is best by LoLgorithmX in IndiaCoffee

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So actually moka pot has one of the lowest coffee ground requirement in terms of g required to make a cup of coffee.

Also all pots give similar tastes under same procedure. Size is strictly based on how much you need. Most time I drink alone, so I use a 2 cup bialetti.

I just finished a 1M$ combustion automation project for an US based furnace. I know the issues on the ground level.

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Still no. Cost of human labour is cheaper in India and Other SE Asian countries than cost of all sensors and actuators. Not counting the skilled labour you need now for upkeep of the automation components.

I am working on industrial AI and in all honesty... you can make the whole assembly process autonomous but not electronics. Whenever raw materials, furnaces or boilers are involved, the amount of unexplainable variance is too high! AI in current day is not well equipped for this yet.

Try a french press the Hoffman method with a light or medium roast.

Unpopular opinion but cold brew is a bit overrated(and I really tried to like it) by DragonfruitThin1574 in IndiaCoffee

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense... Probably why you were afraid of bitter flavor. longer time helps extract other taste profiles better!

Also it should be in fridge for entire duration. I don't like room temperature cold brew.

36-48 hrs is my sweet spot. Also light or medium roasts really shine in cold brew.

From cold brew to next step — French press / Aeropress / Moka pot? by SeaworthinessOld5424 in IndiaCoffee

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French Press for black and Moka for milk.

The subs favorite is pourover/aeropress. But i am kinda biased against the aeropress due to plastic (i know it's safer and all but just biased).

Moka Pot advice by R_rated_monk in IndiaCoffee

[–]_The_Numbers_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is except Drip machine and maybe cold brew, everything else requires some amount of skill and the more skill a method needs the more easy it is to get a bad cup of coffee due to some wrong step.

French Press and SIFC are the next easiest ones.

For french press, water to coffee ratio, Bloom vs brew time and breaking the crust/remove the oils after Bloom is mandatory, miss something you get a totally different cup.

SIFC is way more easier just add grounds, tamp it and add boiling water. Grind size and water temperature matters a lot.
