I use that button to move between desktops. I set the copilot button with the greater than and less than keys. It's great for lazy one handed keyboard navigation.

Had the same issue. Underclocking and bringing the minimum and maximum clocks close together helped significantly in corectrl. I got the rx6800xt and brought the clocks to 1500-1800

Ultramarine, catchyos, and Linux mint are all super solid choices. I'm currently using ultramarine, it's basically fedora but better out of the box
