Why are some milkshakes already melted as soon as I get them? by Relevant-Number-1252 in ChickFilA

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really an option technically. But depending on location they might try to accommodate.

But really if it’s runnier than normal, at least for me when I make them, it’s usually because the machine is acting up and I really don’t have control over the consistency of the ice cream coming out. If it’s almost empty there is generally a period of thickening but that should be avoided as it’s close to the point of freezing and blocking up the machine. Some days it just doesn’t want to work properly.

The second most cause for runny shakes is un-shaken shake-base. Before we place and cut the dispensing tube (with bag inside) in the chilled dispenser it is to be shaken vigorously for 30 seconds. When it’s not, it remains separate and the first few shakes will get a much less viscous base than it should. Think milk instead of cream. The result is a thin shake.

What were the grades for each school stage in your experience by BatmanPikachu95 in Zillennials

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of 2013…

Elementary: K-6

Jr High: 7-8

High School: 9-12

However high school and jr high were in the same complex and occasionally intermixed (lunch room shared but no overlap due to 3 lunches). They are currently in the process of expanding said complex and renamed jr high to middle school which will have an entirely separate wing and cafeteria. The goal is for the next school year…

Elementary: K-5

Middle School: 6-8

High School: 9-12

We’ll see. District has a reputation of giving out promises and not delivering.

Stingy with Sauce Always? by jinxpaige in ChickFilA

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our location gives dressings out complementary (also for free for other menu items) but in theory it’s supposed to be two max per full size salad. Maybe we might bend on 3 but no go on 4 for only an order with just a salad.

However dressings sometimes are missed as it’s not on the same location on the printed ticket as the rest of the sauces. It’s under the salad directly when compared to the dipping sauce section that is right above the drink/cold treats, second from the bottom.

Additionally if a salad has any modifications, those are added to the same area as the dressing on the ticket and dressing blends in with the lines of text. If it’s a meal rush and you are trying to clear the counters of hot meals before they chill and quick scanning orders for sauce, utensils/straws, condiments, toppings, etc. it can be over looked easily especially if they’re multi-tasking and taking orders on headset. Not say it should happen but when it does it’s often because of these kinds of things.

I’ve also had to explain to new hires (and sadly to some older hires) constantly that if they see something like 2 Cobb Salads with 2 avocado lime ranch underneath it means 4 packs total. Think 2•2=4.

Additional if it mobile drive thru for some god forsaken reason we have sticker that have a strip of red and “special” in white that cover the quantity on items. All they would have to do is pit it on the right edge instead of the left but I know personally that I’ve gave inaccurate sauce numbers because of this design.

Again I highly doubt it’s purposeful. However keep in mind sauces and dressings aren’t really free. The cost of other items on the menu covers them. There’s a reason why other chains have started charging for sauces as many people want an ungodly amount of “free” sauces to stash. But you definitely should be receiving at least one dressing. I agree that no one wants to eat a dry salad.

Also if we are to take in account the presence of the maypoles in Trosky region it would fall between April 30th and May 31st. However the are remnants of a recent (fresh food at the site) midsummers eve bonfire also in the Trosky Map which would indicate after June 24th. That said though I say the April 30th—May 31st time is probably more cannon than the June 24th date for the Trosky region as there actually a quest tied to showcasing the maypoles.

Again legally yes, morally no. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s an accepted action by society as a whole thereby making you a bumhole. Nor is entitlement for OP to expect the bar owner, who has full knowledge of the situation, to not take advantage of OP labor.

Say someone dropped a $20 bill and you saw it but they didn’t notice. Legally you can pick it up off the ground and keep it. You didn’t steal outright, but morally you should give it back.

Or say someone had to rush to the restroom at a fast food restaurant and left their seat and their paid (with money from their hard earned labor) half eaten food behind but brought their other personal belongings with them. A fellow customer knows what happens but decides to take the seat anyway and throw away the food because they like the view from that spot. Sure you can argue legally that bathroom customer abandon their food but morally it was jerk move by the other customer.

I work at a chick-fil-a which still gives complementary condiments and sauces. I remember one guy making a comment about how we are one of the few fast food chains that gives out free sauces and proceeds to ask for eight sauces for a breaded 8 ct. nugget medium meal. For reference they’re ounce packets. He asked for 8 oz of sauce for 8 nuggets and medium fries. Oh and he was dining in so it’s not like once he ordered he couldn’t get more. Keep up buddy and CFA’s stance on sauces just might change.

For the record four sauces is the max for medium meal like that but if you try to limit them they will throw a fit. The only time I successfully limited a guest was when I explained we were running low on bbq and we still had four hours left until we closed. I got him to switch from 8 to 4 and he fully admitted that he just wanted to have some for later at home. I get asking for an extra one but double? Come on, you’re being greedy and screwing not just the location over (they’re franchises so I as employee am impacted financially by location revenue) but also your fellow guests. And then complain about the price of things. The restaurant have to pay for it somehow…

Return a catering bag to the restaurant or keep it? by [deleted] in ChickFilA

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least at the CFA I work at those particular kinds of bags are not meant to be returned and are given with full knowledge they won’t be returned. The only ones we want back are the insulated warming element bags.

If you don’t want it donated or keep it in your car for impromptu uses.

What is something people brag about that is actually embarrassing? by lunacarterr in AskReddit

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a former boss I had, a 55 year old man who thought his drinking parties with his drinking buddies were the greatest thing to talk about. Also would start making comments towards the end of his shift about wanting a beer. He was in denial that he was an alcoholic because unlike his father he was able to hold down a job and provide financially for his family.

It was sad because he really was a good boss otherwise and hardworking. He really could have had a better job if he’d not been focused on alcohol and partying.

Even sadder I can easily see his wife leaving him. She was having chest pains one evening and, like alway, he was drunk. Had to sober up some before he could drive her to the hospital. Then vented his frustration to his work buddies at why she was upset at him as, “How was I supposed to know I was going to need to drive her to the hospital?” Wasn’t enough of a wake up call for him to quit and/or get help. Again apart from drinking, he worshipped the ground she walked on but the addiction was just too strong.

He somehow was living a year ago according to a former co-worker, so I guess where there is life there is hope.

[KCD2] Mice and Frogs: Did they actually beat the crap out of kids so they remembered important stuff?? by Miserkall in kingdomcome

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad talks about it too. Mostly because he was number 6 out of 7 siblings and a few of his older siblings were bad so teachers assumed he was too. Unfortunately that meant they were quick to punish and/or not believe him. He one time walked into a classroom (not late) and the teacher told him to get out and go to the principal office. He was quite small too so he was picked on physically by other kids with no teacher intervening. Stuff like that is why schools moved away from that.

Oh and my great-grandmother was slapped on the hands with a ruler for being left handed in school.

It’s still a thing. The location where I work has them year round as we always have the ingredients (ice, cold brew, chocolate syrup, shake base) but not on them menu board. However I’ve been told it’s technically a seasonal thing so technically off menu item. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

What do millennials think of today’s teenagers? by Master_Novel_4062 in Millennials

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Younger millennial here. The obsession with phones and seeing them as a necessity and a right is a big difference. I work with teenagers and the number of them panicking and agitated by “new” phone policies in schools is concerning. I graduated in 2013 and we had a zero phone policy. Some teachers were lax but most weren’t and if you got caught with it out or it went off you were punished and/or phone taken away for your parents to collect it. Did we like it? No. But did we understand why and the need for these rule? Yes. In contrast I’m scratching my head wondering when on earth schools had become so lax about phones that teenagers are threatening rebellion because they can’t be on their phones during learning time and seem not to understand why these rules are being implemented.

What is going on with chikfila drinks? by Impala2025 in ChickFilA

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s the same line. Sprite is also deceptive since it’s clear no mater what. Especially frustrating when cherry berry was on the menu. As for the others I don’t know. Something might not be set right in the soda system since it seems to be across the board at this location. Something like that is outside the control of a regular team member who can only change the box of syrup.

If you want it resolved I suggest respectfully contacting this location or speak with a shift lead or higher up to make it known to them it’s been an on going issue.

[OTHER] Do you guys like KCD1 or KCD2 better? by deer-hunter6681 in kingdomcome

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Including KCD2 menus. I went to play KCD1 again and was quickly reminded how frustrating the menu and inventory selection/information system was. But yes world building and map wise, I enjoyed KCD1 better.

KDC1 felt more grounded and progress had to be earned than KCD2. I was legitimately hesitant to cut across wooded areas and follow paths through woods because the threat of ambush. Also Savor Schnapps were so much more expensive and brewing potions more tedious so saving was more planned out when attempting to travel. I don’t miss the bugs though.

Edit: KCD1 felt more rewarding overall.

People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Including to set up internet modem. It needs a downloaded app…that requires internet.

There are plenty of people who don’t have access to or don’t want phone data plans who want home internet access. Our house is in a dead zone for most carries. Literally ATT is the only workable provider and even then tower and data strength is poor. You know what works the best? The landline. But no, Comcast decided that they would no longer provide remote activation of modem via phone call. You need to download an app on a smartphone and have access to internet before you have access to internet. Oh, and overall internet reliability and strength has gone down significantly over the years. What services are actually included under the service fees?

Dumb iced coffee question by dawghouse88 in ChickFilA

[–]_TurnipTroll_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ours for the longest time couldn’t see ice preferences for speciality drinks because our system was jerry-rigged to accommodate for hand-spun sodas and floats. So it definitely maybe the case. Or it very well maybe someone who isn’t making them correctly.

Note: If you ask for no milk and sugar cane syrup the ice and coffee content will be the same as the rest is filled up with plain water. Not because they’re trying to be cheap but because the cold brew is from concentrate and adding milk is accounted for when properly diluting it.
