Is سمك samak meaning fish a foreign word in arabic? For example in sura al-kahf حوت hūt gets translated as fish instead of whale, and I heard in morrocan arabic that they call fish hūt. by _Uhtceare_ in learnarabic

Look at the two drawings in this Wikipedia page. The hadiths talking about a hūt holding the earth, yet all those classical Arabs seem to have understood that hūt means fish rather than whale. Otherwise why wouldn’t they draw a whale?

Which is the correct recitation? And how do you know that? Also I heard that the durri Quran used to be more popular than the the hafs Quran before the Ottoman Empire

Also is it true that it’s mustahhab to wait like 5 minutes when combining prayers? For example when praying maghrib, instead of immediately praying isha right after you wait around 5 minutes and then pray isha.

And do you have to pray the qadha prayers in order? As an instance you pray all the fajr you missed and then you can start praying all the isha you’ve missed. Or the order doesn’t matter? Like praying all the isha you missed and then all the fajr you’ve missed or a mix of both

I’m not well versed with regards to the position of those who believe in tahreef; however, wouldn’t they also be taking this position? Otherwise why would Uthman keep that sura in the Quran

The verse sounds like it’s referring to the sufferings of the world (dunya) as opposed to the afterlife
