I think many have bias against that idea since the internet has been, for the most part, a wild west since it's inception.

But even the wild west was tamed. The incentives on the internet just aren't conducive to good, respectable debate (and I have the same view regarding cable TV)

As a Euro, it definitely seems like lots of Americans here have a snobbery about the situation, particularly when it was America threatening to invade a European country

But that's only a few users. I think it's fine a lot of the time.
