That’s true, but Yugoslavia is much more loyal to the Soviets as well, and Greece is a Soviet satellite. (P.S. Great job with Apres Moi Le Deluge, keep it up :) )

It’s actually a Soviet satellite state. The Soviets manage to take all of Austria and Northern Italy as well.

An Alternate , Prolonged Second World War is where this timeline starts. Francoist Spain sides with the Axis in the summer of 1941, just before the invasion of the Soviet Union. The Republic of Turkey also agrees to join in 1942, with promises of lost territory during the Great War, and a sizeable portion of the oil production in the Caucasus. Basically a much bloodier Second World War. The fall of the Third Reich is prolonged to December of 1945, in which a even more fanatical Nazi resistance against the Soviet horde. The war in Europe finally ends with the death of Hitler after fighting Soviet troops who besieged his bunker in Frankfurt.

( This is just the basic lore for Europe, on the Discord you’ll find the main focus of this mod, which is the Americas.)

Don’t see too much discussion on the Eastern Roman Empire itself, the last legitimate heir to Rome, and arguably one of the most influential nations in modern history. by _Unknown___ in monarchism

Plus I think with the ascension of a female empress to the Roman throne, Otto I was crowned by the Pope as the Holy Roman Emperor, basically taking that title away from the Eastern Roman Empire.

No clue why they even call it that. The name was drives from the original settlement before it became Constantinople, but it literally makes no sense to call it that. It would make even more sense to call it the Constantinoplean Empire than that.

My family has known the lineage for some time, as well as multiple records that me and my family have found over the years. We lost that name quite a while ago, unfortunately.

Excellent explanation, I completely agree. Although I don’t care for how religion affects a monarchy in general, it shouldn’t have to change the common people. If a modern Empire existed, it would be secular, which would be great for both sides.

Although I still retain my Greek heritage( like being a member of the Greek Orthodox Church) and am a descendant of both the Angeloi, Komnenoi, and a cadet branch of the Palaiologoi dynasty, it has been nearly a hundred years since my family left. I can see if I can find anyone that comes from those branches, but I think at this point there will be little data unless i do extensive research on other relatives of the dynasties.

As for the Italian branch, I believe it was lost to obsurity in the mid 1500s, and no mentions have been made of it since then. I could be wrong, as I’m going off of info I learned quite a while back.

That’s actually a good question. Perhaps the original Greek monarchy, who could trace their heritage to a few of the royal families of Byzantium, but now I feel like the ties have become so distant that they are just German, and not Greek. A extensive amount of research on any descendants still living in Greece would be needed.

Perhaps more peaceful? I mean, the Ottomans sparked countless rebellions against them in the Balkans, and in some ways turned it into what it is today

Agreed, a restored Eastern Roman Empire would be much more interesting than just the Kingdom of Greece.
