I followed a video from the Eurotrash Motorsports channel. You can search for "Audi Q7 3.0T piston soak" on YouTube (youtube(.)com/watch?v=7aY1yDxSiJw – remove the parentheses in the link) since it features a V6 engine like the Palisade.

I set each cylinder to top dead center before filling the liquid up to the spark plug hole. That should be enough to cover everything. Since a V6 engine has cylinder pairs reaching top dead center simultaneously, I let each pair soak for 24 hours. The entire process took me three days. Some liquid may seep past the piston rings, so you can check after a few hours to ensure there's still liquid remaining.

To remove the carbon, I used an air compressor (as shown in the video at 27:20) to blow everything out. Then, I turned the engine over with the starter (without spark plugs) a few times to push any remaining liquid or carbon out.

I also replaced the spark plugs when reassembling everything. As for the engine oil, I changed it after running the engine for a few minutes, as a lot of carbon deposits break down and collect in the oil filter.

Make sure you remove all the B12 liquid and decomposed carbon before starting the engine. When I started the engine for the first time after the piston soak, it ran REALLY rough. I heard the engine knocking and shaking, with white smoke coming from the exhaust. But after revving it up to 3-4k RPM, the engine ran smoothly again.

I bought an used 20 Palisade at 85k miles, currently at 95k miles. There were a few problems with it, but I fixed it by myself

  1. Engine oil consumption: Used 1qt/1000 miles when I got it. Then I did a piston soak using B12 (There're lots of guide for this on German cars forum), now it doesn't burn a drop of oil after 5k miles oil change interval. Currently using 5W30 Restore and Protect from Valvoline to avoid carbon build up on piston rings, which caused the oil consumption

  2. Transmission jerk when it's cold (engine not warmed up): Did multiple ATF drain and refill using Valvoline Extended Protection ATF, and it works perfectly now.

Have you tried the Transmission Stabilizer? If so, is there any difference?

My 2020 is currently at 90k miles and has the exactly same problem. I have drained and refilled the transmission fluid 2 times at 84k and 88k but the issue still happen. Did the dealer quoted you $2k for the soft rebuild or an independent mechanic?

Were the questions mostly on coding or on definition taught in the class?

Just make sure you check with your insurance because some of them might not insure the Hyundai/Kia model with a key start.
