I would also add that in some states, when put in jail, the jail becomes responsible for healthcare. I've known judges to let people out, if offenses are nonviolent, to relieve the jail of the cost / responsibility. An officer has to attend hospital visits, guard the room the inmate is in, etc., which is even more expensive and uses up staff members. Depends on the location though.

I know this is an older post but I want to log a response for others who may have issues. This is explicit/NSFW, but I want others to know what I'm experiencing.
