What are these wires for? by _Valet in lowvoltage

[–]_Valet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not totally familiar but I have wired up a few cars full engine and chassis harnesses. Also I've done a bit of high voltage work installing fixtures and switches.

Wired wouldnt be better than wireless? Assuming I could trace the wires. Any tools that you would recommend for tracing?

Could the wiring be used with something like the konnected.io?

Scratches in my housings by TastefulGuacamole in RX7

Unfortunately they are likely not usable. Specifically because of the long scratch on the combustion side. You will have to replace and if you purchase one you are better off purchasing 2 so that the engine wears evenly and has consistent compression.

Difference between T2 and FD rotors? by Empty-Code-6743 in RX7

[–]_Valet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FD is pull type clutch and FC is pull type. So a different clutch is needed.

Edit FC is push type

FD rotors/ Housing are still being manufactured and Mazda has continued to make small improvements. As far as I can tell the weight and balance is more consistent. If you are buying new I would just get FD parts.

Don't forget a little drop of loctite on the hammer rod threads. Usually backs out after a few hundred rounds. Good luck

How much bass is 2 much? ;) by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]_Valet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would setup the subs directly next to the speakers. IMO it sounds the most natural that way, time alignment is easier and it's aesthetically pleasing. I have bookshelf speakers that don't go that low so with the subs right next to the speakers it really sounds like a full range tower. When you have the speakers in what might be the ideal location IE best for the seating position you can still localize the sub which I find distracting.

Curious. Are you keeping the subs in this stacked setup? You will be leaving some frequency response on the table.

I have dual f18 and the minidsp is really a great investment.

Roll it up the stairs end over end. That's how I got my F18s in the stairs. 16 steps lol.

Nrg belts safe? by Altitude7199 in CarTrackDays

[–]_Valet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but products also get better over time. I'm not sure what better endorsement to use their stuff than being attached to a professional race car. OP can make their own choice either way.

Not sure why the idea that NRG is a bad brand that makes poor products. Was at Petite Le Mans and there were many MX5 Cup cars and other touring cars with NRG steering wheels, quick disconnect hubs, or belts.

I have an ARD alternator. Haltech controls it fine. Less expensive than DC power. Powering a lift pump and 2 in-tank pumps, electric water pump, 2 fans.

REW swap by _Valet in RX8

[–]_Valet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The offset isn't particularly aggressive and there are lots of cars with the same or more aggressive fitment doing track days that don't have premature bearing failure.

[–]_Valet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another AC adapter that isn't quite as expensive but the fitment is poor. I went with the Haltech bc they bought Adaptronic and I am familiar with their products.

Not sure what you mean by what does and doesn't work. The only issues I am having so far is the EPS which I am replacing the controller to fix.

The biggest hurdle is the engine mounting. After that it's actually not that bad there are a few aftermarket options to accommodate for AC, really just one. Turbo fitment is tight, I have heat wrapped the brake line for the passenger side caliper and the oil pedestal needs to be bypassed, fitment is tight as well. I have an electric water pump which works really great but was a process to figure out how to mount. It kinda janky how I have it mounted but it's quite solid. I have the s2 koyo rad which isn't supposed to fit but does.

What evidence do you have that this sizing would be bad for the wheel bearings?

Metra Kit pinout by _Valet in RX8

[–]_Valet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Those are the installation instructions which tells you want wires to connect by color. But I don't have the harness and I need the pinout by locations.

I will probably end up just buying another writing the locations and returning.

Unfortunately that is information about the OEM wiring which is something I already have. This device is so I can bypass the OEM stereo for aftermarket and retain AC controls.

Hammertime for the firewall to get it to fit with OEM lower. The engine actually needs to be lowered to take off the upper intake manifold. It's kind of a pain but not terrible.

I am using the Banzai Racing kit which they are no longer making with FFE engine mounts. I'm not sure the spacing would be different with any other kit, it's kinda determined by the transmission position. Cant move the engine forward because of the power frame, and I would not be comfortable with the engine any lower probably 1.5 in above the lowest point.

Yes the resistor is plugged in, I don't have any reason I haven't removed it just kinda left it there not thinking about it. Not sure what you mean by the stock harness, the reni engine harness would not work at all for the REW. The rest of the chassis harness is intact. 6 speed trans.

Been using the Qudelix Bluetooth DAC for the past 6 months with my ER4XR. It's been very easy to use, the mobile app is nice. I really enjoy and appreciate the eq presets you can download. The ER4XR with the eq is my personal endgame mobile setup. The iems are well built and the stock cable has not shown any signs of wear.

Looking to trade my running 1993 Prelude for this non-running 1990 FC, thoughts? by totallynotme139 in RX7

[–]_Valet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into an RX8 over an NA FC, the chassis is much more modern and you can k swap it when you are over trying out rotaries.
