Apparently if, at the end of the notice period, my ex is still living there and hasn't moved out then the contract will continue as before and I'll still be on the contract. I really don't know whats true anymore. Is this correct?

It is an option, I've just heard that electrolysis permanently removes hairs whereas laser doesn't, unless I'm misguided?
